Montythegod Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) After noticing the old scooby was smoking on high revs with high boost acceleration, I purchased an oil catch tank and fitted as required.... I start the car and there is a big puff of white smoke, I have since found this is due to the oil in the intertercooler pipework, but the engine sounds fine. now it hasnt cured the problem, and its got worse.. I have oil all over the inside of my front mount, all over the engine bay especially around the dump valve. In addition my engine check light is flashing on high rpm si I assume my apexi is warning of misfire as a result of oil ?? I took the intercooler pipework apart today and literally tipped oil out of it, now the question of where and how its getting there ?????? (bear in mind oil catch tank has disconnected the oil breather return to the inlet pipe and this is blanked) 1. turbo knackered and spewing oil into intake ? 2. Evac canister, seems to be a breathing device, can this throw oil into the intake ? safe to remove without remap ? 3. worse case- piston rings.... ? 4. Oil change required ( I have read about this curing the issue) and it is due... I am curious of your experiences before I rip the engine out and rebuild it ... so any ideas ?? dazzlers82 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 i would say turbo if you have disconnected breathers as if it were rings or a breather blocked then it would be goin into the oil catch tank not through the i/c
matthew_buckland Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I'd agree with Dazzler on this, both mine and Nudge's turbo's have gone in the last year and both of us had lots of oil in pipework etc, Nudge's had engine light flicker to. That would be my first fix.

Nudge Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Mine started with small amounts of oil in the pipework and intercooler, 5 months later it got a whole lot worse and filled the intercooler, sounds defo like the seals going on the turbo..

Pele Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Yer its the turbo I got from Tony fitted and mapped in, looks like I may need a replacement I hope not, it was low mileage from Deani_age's RA and sent away to be converted properly, Tony's working away at the mo, I'll ask him about it when he gets back.
