Big Gordon Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I have 18" superleggeras on a 53 plate WRX. What's the right size of tyres as the car has 225/35x18's on it and the profile looks too low. Should they be 40 series? Also, what's the best make to use, Toyos? Advice appreciated, cheers.
RS Grant Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Without checking, I think that I'm running my Newage on 225/40/18 at the moment and everything seems fine and speedo/gps tie-up well... dont think it'll make a massive difference, but its likely to be a slightly better ride with a thicker sidewall on the 40 profile. Tyre choice is really a personal thing, from my point of view, I've tried Pirelli, Michelin, Toyo, Goodyear, Avon etc etc...... and the best I've found for Wet/Dry performance is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 XL tyres. However, I heard they are being discontinued and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asimetric is replacing them, a couple of tests have shown that they are still great performers so I'll be trying them when my current set wears out. Cheers, Grant
nkwrx Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Hi mate, I've got Ultraleggera'a (18's) on my 06 WRX and they have 40 profile and look just about right imho, Hope this helps. They are Eagle F1's and again I think they are a great tyre. There are quite a few others on here using and liking these too. Cheers Kevan
