baser999 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 (edited) As there clearly wasn't enough interest in a weekend trip, we'll run another day trip on SATURDAY 5 JULY - which is the same weekend as last years run - lets hope the weathers as good. Details of proposed shuttle times, route and so on to follow. Note your diaries. Edited March 7, 2008 by BASER999

baser999 Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) UPDATE - A decision has been made............this years trip to France will actually be to BRUGES, which is in Belgium and only 70 miles from the shuttle terminal in Calais. Given that this is a far bigger place than we've been to in the last two years I would propose that we there and spend the day. Continue watching this space for proposed journey times and so on. Just had a quick look at the Eurotunnel site and shuttle costs will be in the order of £59 per car, if we travel out before 09:00 and return after 21:00. In the meantime perhaps we should start a list of interested travellers; Baser999 and Tania Edited January 28, 2008 by BASER999
yogi- Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) Anyone whos never been to BRUGES will love it. One of the many things that are nice about the place is the River that runs through the town, and a little boat trip is a must do Edited January 27, 2008 by yogi-

wedmonds Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) I just put my name dwn and then realised that it clashes with Magny Cours. This is the biggest Modfied car show in France. SIDC could also go to this instead. Ecruze is hoping to go and stay over. It a BIG BIG EVENT over the 2 days. Edited February 12, 2008 by wedmonds

baser999 Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 For the same price on the Shuttle, its possible to travel out Saturday morning and return on the Sunday night which would allow us to eat and on the Saturday night although it does mean having to factor in hotel costs etc.........anyone interested in this option?

Terri and I are up for an overnight stop Barry
vickyk Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 We would be happy to stop over. How about if we went friday night, stayed friday and saturday night in a hotel and go to belgium on the saturday and france on the suday or vesa versa. this would add an option for some people who can only do one of the days. Just an idea??

Just an idea?? It's a nice idea Vicky but I wonder if the costs might start to get a little prohibitive for some people? Travelling out on the Shuttle on the Friday and returning Sunday is going to cost in the order of £110, on top of which will be two nights accommodation etc for those proposing to do the whole weekend. Lets see what response we get over ,say, the next week before we make a decision.
badboy baza Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) Would be up for overnight stop only problem is parking in Bruge town it's self very limited do to the nature of town canals etc. so you may have to look on the outskirts http://www.booking.com/hotel/be/terbrughe....3cea15ed69e4cc8 We stayed here last time close to centre but very difficult parking Edited February 22, 2008 by Badboy Baza
baser999 Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 There is clearly no interest from the Club as a whole to run this event and in the circumstances I shall not be making any further plans for the trip. With apologies to those that did show interest.
