willie25 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) just looking for some help with a problem with my car,i recently serviced my car 1 week ago changed all the fluids spark plugs etc,but when im driving in any gear when i put the foot down i get power then a delay in power untill i put the foot down more then it kicks in again the delay feels like its struggling for fuel, over fueld or air i dont know.its worse when cold when im trying to keep a steady speed in say second it feels like its jerking forward with power then back it wont hold a steady smooth speed, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. willie Edited January 15, 2008 by willie25
johnnyr6 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) Check all the usual things like air leaks, connections etc. Also check that plugleads are on properly and maf hasn't been damaged or not connected right. It does sound a bit like an air leak, Also what plugs did you fit and what gap are they set at? Best of luck, Johnny Edited January 14, 2008 by JohnnyR6

superstar_tradesman Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 see when the cars idling does it idle smoothly or does it hunt, if it's hunting it could be the maf.

willie25 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 I ran my car for the past 3 years with a full decat without any problems and without a remap ok am not getting the full advantage of it without a remap but as i said it ran fineCould be a number of things wrong with your car mate Gordy its looking that way still have warranty with grieves so i prob will take it back to them again cheers
McMiata Man Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 its looking that way still have warranty with grieves so i prob will take it back to them again cheers Mine is also a 2000 Classic, and I had a similar problem the other night. The car has been sitting for a couple of days after a wet drive. When I went out for a drive, it was stuttering quite a bit till it was warm. I've had this problem in various cars, and I'm pretty sure it's down to the leads. This would tie in with it working properly for a short period after you fitted new plugs, as you would have "refreshed" the dodgy connection on a lead when you removed them to change the plugs. Best way to check is open the bonnet when you feel it happening, at night in the dark, and look for sparks. Usually where the lead plugs into the coil pack. I've not replaced mine yet, too cold and skint at the moment, lol.
