I read an interesting article re "DIRTY" MAF sensors. Apparently it was by accident that someone discovered that by cleaning the Sensor, cured what was thought to be a major fault in an automatic gearbox, namely on the Ford Scorpio model, because the gearbox changes gear at a certain RPM the ECU gave the gearbox a faulty reading to change gear due to a dirty sensor, if this makes sense. If not i'll

yogi- Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 So nothing to do with Subarus then According to this book if your car has a MAF sensor then it could cause probs if not cleaned, it also said that it is the last thing that you would think of checking
prodrive tony Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Cheers Yogi.........Maf is clean and fine, cleaned it when I fitted filter. Ive found out the plastic tube to the vacuum guage gets sucked shut and this is part of the vacuum pipes so could affect the idle apparently?? I'll keep checking.
Garth W Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Hi Tony my car had that problem once, it turned out to be the dump valve leaking because it had a split diaphragm, hope this helps
