luke_clifton Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi, been thinking recently about getting shot of my classic impreza and going for the new Sti (hatchback). I've not totally made my mind up yet, and it's all career depending (getting new job ). What would you do?
granby Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi, been thinking recently about getting shot of my classic impreza and going for the new Sti (hatchback). I've not totally made my mind up yet, and it's all career depending (getting new job ).What would you do? Go for the new STi, it will come out the factory with 300bhp and the rumours are there will be a PPP that will take it to 400 which would be nice , apart from that i think the new STi looks the dogs b*******
luke_clifton Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 I really do like the new sti, love it's styling.... but the most tempting thing is the warranty and engine peace of mind. 400bhp
leebo77 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 As Granby said - the 400 bhp is just a rumour. However, the WRX is nice drive (IMO) and I reckon the STi will be pretty good. I'd do it.

I really like the look of the new STi, but i also like mine and am slowly learning more and more about the car, but i will be happier with mapping mine to give me a better power curve Then in a couple of years time i may change her for the STi or something else all together
leebo77 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 in a couple of years time i may change her for the STi or something else all together Poor Terri... LOL
Scooby Hoo? Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Poor Terri...LOL My concern would be over the issue of the 2.5lt engine cracking cylinder linings when stretched out passed 350 bph and drive hard over long periods. Once this has been addressed, say in a couple of years, then the new car could well be worth buying. But if you intend to run it as it comes off the factory floor then go and treat yourself.

The standard 2.5 semi closed block is good for around 450bhp as it's the pistons that are the weakest link, i believe that the new STi has a uprated 2.5 engine that should take this sort of power
luke_clifton Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 Well i've appiled for more info.... coffeemonster Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I have to admit that I am still not sold on the idea of the hatchback. I have had my impreza a little less than a year now but have always loved the shape, it's kinda missing something for me. Gotta love it though, if you can live with hatch'. (could I sit more on the fence, no wonder it's such a hard decision)
dazzlers82 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 the new sti has grown on me an im starting to like it now so i say get one

Sean. you cant beat the look of the classic hands down the best looking impreza ever, i know the new car has loads of power but it looks like ford/honda could you not redesign it?
Gee Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 you cant beat the look of the classic hands down the best looking impreza ever,i know the new car has loads of power but it looks like ford/honda could you not redesign it? Sadly No! I dont work for Subaru, just one of their suppliers. But ive seen the type uk's in the flesh (silver and black), and they remind me a bit of an "intergrale" from the front.....which can only be a good thing? Just wait till people star modding them.....it'll grow on ya! Sean.
