mic Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hi there, got myself a nice MY00 turbo wednesday morning, been LOVING every second of it!! Only thing is, I found last night that after sitting idling for about 20mins, I tried to drive away quickly and found that I had very little power, and the dump valve made a constant sound..... This cleared almost instantly, although it still left me a little worried.... And again today I was cleaning the car and had it sitting idling the whole time (1 1/2hrs maybe) and again it had the power loss, although this time it lasted longer and when it did clear, I had no "Whoosh" from the dump valve for a few moments afterwards..... This was then followed by a smell of oil from the engine bay, which upon investigation seemed to be caused by some smoke coming from around the turbo.... The car still seemed to pull fine, but needless to say, I'm concerned. The car is booked into a Subaru dealer tomorrow for a service/timing belt etc etc anyways, but i'm basically looking for a little bit of peice of mind tonight!! Any ideas anyone? Many thanks, Michael

mic Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 (edited) Well I tend to let the car idle for a bit after driving it anyways, but since I was washing it, I thought i'd leave it on and keep the inside warm (cold outside!!) But i've since been told it's not a great idea to leave turbos idling for too long?? News to me PS Cheers for the welcome Edited November 12, 2007 by mic
ScoobyDAZZA Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 probably heat soak due to letting it idle for so long and the ecu backing things off till it's cooler
