seano Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 My cars booked in to Meercat for a full de-cat, does anyone have some pics of there backbox. I cant decide if i want a angled exit with a slash cut tailpipe or a straght exit tailpipe.thanks
Double Zero Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Here's mine m8 it's a Mongoose backbox with a centre de-cat pipe supplied by Gus The Bus,sounds cracking at high rev's but not that loud at normal rev's. Stevie 01 WRX
markymark Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) I think the straight exit looks better Edited October 11, 2007 by markymark
frank c Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Sorry I've no pics buddy but i prefer the straight cut too
james666 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 not got any pics just now but on classics i think the slash cut looks better but not sure on new age as i tend not to pay much notice to them!!, i'm running a cnc snakehead and backbox with straight through centre. sounds rather nice if i dont mind saying myself!!!
GaryD Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I would go for a jap style angled back box with slashcut tailpipe. Well thats wot ive got on my newage and think it looks good!
iain01 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 theres a gallery on their website pic 95 is a newage. Some good pics of Colin McRaes escort too. http://www.meercat-exhausts.com/gallery.htm

fai17 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I would go for a jap style angled back box with slashcut tailpipe. Well thats wot ive got on my newage and think it looks good! I used to like strights but now i prefer jap style angled back box for better flow.

RS Grant Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Does it really matter if its angled or straight on anything below the 400bhp mark?! ...as I've currently got a 2.5" system with an angled backbox but was going to go for a 3" full de-cat with a subtle 3.5" straight exit tailpipe that sounds pretty loud at full chat. Just that I'm a bit bored of the massive rear angled tailpipe look and fancy something that sounds amazing, but looks really subtle and prodrive-ish like the one fitted to a PPP'd car. Cheers, Grant
seano Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Cheers for the help, think i will go with the angled exit. G.Mac that would be good if you could get a picture of yours thanks.
scoobyiain Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I know the straight afterburner exhausts (what i have ) are not as good as the angled exit as the angled exit has less bends in it therefore more free flowing.

Cheers, Grant I'm with you on this one... I want something (as and when I change it) that gives me the best performance possible, is well made and will last but that looks as std as possible. Really not a fan of the huge "dustbin" back boxes you see on some cars.
micra_wrc Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 here's my classic (just wanted to post this pic again lol)
markymark Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) I thought the classic PPP was 3.5 inch tailpipe & the newage were 4 inch both inwardly rolled & resonated ? Here's mine with the scorpion 3.5 tail pipe a bit puny on a hawkeye ? Edited October 12, 2007 by markymark

I had the Magnex 6"x4" oval backbox on my classic wagon which seemed to fit perfectly. Wouldn't want something as large on the STi though.
