ScoobyDav Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Are turbo timers a good idea. I don't have one fitted to my car and i have been looking into getting one Thought i would ask opinions first before buying one. What should i look for or is it just staight forward cheapest turbo timer thanks Guys
superstar_tradesman Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 some people will tell you they are a waste of time but I fitted one for peace of mind so I don't forget to let it idle for a minute before I switch it off. I got one from halfords, it was only 35 quid and I fitted it myself. Looks good in silver too.
RA Dunk Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 unless your booting the car up right to your door step which you shouldent be doing anyway if you live in a town or city there a waste of time, after a wee drive just drive off boost for a few mins and it has the same affect, i have one fitted in my car but it`s handy for letting the car cool down after spirited driving during trackdays
micra_wrc Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 agree with all the sensible suggestions so far but i use mine to defrost the car in the winter! dont like scraping the frost from the windscreen so start the car, set it for 5 mins, lock car, go back in the house and when you come back out, put the heaters on and watch the frost disappear and windscreen demist

edmondo Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Have one on mine - got it set for 1 minute - as I travel 45 miles to work mainly motorway and heavy Rush Hour traffic I just like to let it cool however it does interfere with my alarm which can be a nuisance......................................what a cracking idea for winter though.
frank c Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 As long as it doesn't get nicked or moved .
superstar_tradesman Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Think you can have them setup with ur handbrake frank so if anyone decides to try nick it then when they release handbrake it cuts out You are spot on mate, it is set up so as soon as the handbrake is released engine cuts out.
