Sva Testing Filler Restrictor

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi guys,

I have a restrictor in my filler from the SVA testing......

It is really annoying as there is already one in there from Subaru, so I have a restrictor in a restrictor...... ;)

Both the SVA centre and the dealer are over the other side of the country, and I really want to avoid trekking there if I can.

Now, all it is, is three grub screws.....BUT, you cannot get an allen key in there (and give enough purchase) to get one of them to give.

Anyone got any ideas or can recommend someone locally to help?

Cheers,

Mark

I forgot to say that a lot of people have looked at this as a ten minute job, but as of yet they have all come out scratching their heads...
There not grub screws they are torx screws (excuse the spelling of torx Its prob wrong but you get the gist ) If you"ve not got the torx tools you can buy them from any car spare shop .You can use it with a rachet and extension bar .That should get em out in minuits !

I'm sure Dazzlers may be able to help you, he lives on the Island too and has a nice big snap on box of tools lol, otherwise if you don't mind travelling I may just have the right screwdriver in my boot ;)

They are allen not torx (your looking at the wrong screws....you cannot see them in the photo..)

You cannot get a rachet and extension in either, it is just too small.

Someone else did say that it might just be possible to get in there with a snap on though.....

Just updated the photo....

Its not as easy as it looks.....I have a garage full of tools, and I have plenty of allen keys that fit the grub screws, but there is so much flex in the key that I am frightened I am gonna snap it.

Like I said earlier, a lot of people have looked at this, thinking it is a five minute job, but a year later I still havent got the damn thing out ;)

Big thanks to Darren for sorting this the other week.

With a saw, magnet, some rags and lots of patience, he prised it from the filler :iagree:

Cheers fella!
