luke_clifton Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 About 2 weeks ago, i hit a nasty pot hole in the road (coulden't miss it), was only going about 10-15mph. But the hole was so huge it made a bang like i'd just hit a wall. Now whenever i brake my steering has a mind of it's own, it pulls to the left then right and so on, This knock also put my tracking well out which cost me £90 to have 4wd realignment last year [:@]. But i am thinking it's bent a rod or cracked a bush, as now when i stop there is sometimes a clunk from that wheel. The biggest p!ss take is that tomorrow i have to spend a fortune on tax for roads like these.
yogi- Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Take a picture of the hole and feckin sue the council

If you see one you should report it to the highways authority i.e Kent then after 14 days if they are not repaired and you damage your mod of transport you can made a claim against the authority responsible. West Malling Garage have a new 4 wheel alignment machine and costs start at £56 per hour.

baser999 Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Believe there is an official 'potholes compliants' website - not sure if they take action on your behalf or just tell you how to go about d/w the councils etc
badboy baza Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Son inlaw managed to get new wheel and tyre on his Pug from east Sussex council by doing the above need witnesses etc though.
luke_clifton Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Hi, can i ask your advice please. Upon cleaning my car yestarday i found that my tyre (the one that took the HUGE pothole) has a 2" split in the side wall now. Is this dangerous? is my tyre totally knackered now? and do you think it was the pothole that caused it? Thank You.
granby Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Any split in a tyre is dangerous and you should get it changed straight away, do not drive it or if you have to take it very easy
luke_clifton Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 Ah thanks for confirming, i'll bolt my old white wheels back on then i think.
