does my car need a cat?

please help me solve this question for defo

my pipe just after the cat before it joins to the stainless section has got a nice little hole in it so im just trying to find a good cat replacement pipe for a good price so do i need to put the cat back on or is it ok without?

my car is a MY92 'K' plate wrx imported from japan

I have a 94 plate import and it has no cats.I was told that pre 94 imports do not need cats but they must pass the emmision test,

It went through the MOT no probs

cheers mate but how will it pass the emissions test with no cat do you not need the lamda reading etc?

There are 2 types of emmision tests that they do.Not sure what the differences are but Im sure some of the guys will let you know.
