Big P UK300 Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Hi People , Sometime in the past 2 days , someone decided that my bugeye was in need of a dent beside the rear window(ar******s) the dent is quite shallow and the paint has 'nt been cracked . Does anyone know a way with some magic tool that i could get this pulled out without going to a bodyshop or calling dentmaster Advise appreciated ! Paul
scoobzie Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 try a hairdryer and some c02 for a fore exstinguisher it might sound stupid but it works matewhat u do is heat the dent up with the hair dryer not to hot the heat will expand the panel then all u do right after that is spray the dent with the c02 and watch the panel pop back into shape it wont crack the paint or damage it in any way after the panel has poped back just give the panel a clean and thats it mate cheers scoobzie
Big P UK300 Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 Cheers mate , That sounds too easy to be true , but i'll gee it a go tomorrow (weather permitting) What would you recommend using as the co'2 ?? P
scoobzie Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 a fire exstinguisher m8 or dry ice if u can get your hand on some with the dry ice you put it in the centre of the dent hold it there till it goes white on the dent then move it and leave for a few minutes but best results with the exstinguisher cheers scoobzie
Big P UK300 Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 Thank's again I'll let you know how it goes ! P

andy Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Erm... you need some serious gloves to hold dry ice on a dent. It's a solid at -109°F or -78°C. Not a material to be dealt with lightly - even assuming you can get hold of some.
jodie typeRA Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 ive seen that to. surely thats just to go to be true [^o)]
Alan-G Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Nope, It does work. BTW, *** DISCLAIMER : Not encouraging theft by any means at all *** If you are struggling to get yer hands on a co2 then ANY public building has stacks of 'em nailed to the walls ... Also BTW, Andy is spot on, you would need asbestos gloves to handle Dry Ice and also where have ye come across a Dry Ice shop [:S]
exvaux Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 me dad does mobile disco uses it in the smoke machine thingy.a girl at my work has a megane with some nice dents in the roof from a ned walkin over her car might borrow it to see if this works and earn some brownie points []
scoobasteve747 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Just out of interest, is the dent on bend near the window or on a flat area of paneling? I had a dent just above my rear wheel arch in my old Civic Type R and used what can only be described as the best tool a plumber could have, a Toilet Plunger! It pulled the dent right out with no disturbance to the paint either, well except for a ring mark from the plunger. This was removed with a quick wash and polish. Oh just to point out, i'm not a plumber [:$] Im in I.T. []
Big P UK300 Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Aye mate , the dent is right on the bend as the panel curves round . I have'nt had a chance to try to get the dent out yet cause of work but im hoping for nice weather tomorrow so i can have a go , i'll have a go wi the plunger first as the dent is'nt that deep , but if i dont get any joy with that i think i'll try the hair dryer & co'2 method. I would grudge giving any bodyshop a penny till ive tried myself [] Paul
