  1. Thought that the footage of Button's lap was a bit crap.. 2 different cars, one a 52 reg and one a 03. Sack the continuity editor..... Cheers, Plug
  2. Well, that's a bit of an eye-opener. A tricky topic, but can I just join in with everyone else by saying you'll not get judged around here.. Best of luck Caz.. Cheers, Plug
  3. Greetings, Citizens. I had to go to Northern Ireland this week and can report that Budget car rental at Belfast City airport have got a job lot of Scoobys on the fleet at the moment. Quite a few Foresters, and several Impreza... Turbos!!! They must be mad (or they got them really cheap), everyone I know rags rental cars stupid. If you're in the area and fancy a go in someone else's Scooby, get in there quick before they all get wrapped round a tree.. Cheers, Plug. PS Budget also had some Alfa GT coupes in the car park as well... their vehicle buyer is clearly a man of taste! PPS I'd booked with Europcar and ended up with a poxy VW Passat... 1.6 [sn] [:'(]
  4. He's been gone a while... Does someone want to bang on the door and check he hasn't fallen in? Cheers, Plug
  5. Shame that the Scoob has gone, but that Evo looks like a worthy successor...[] Let us know how you get on.. Cheers, Plug
  6. Nice looking car. Enjoy! Cheers, Plug
  7. Great find, really takes me back. Mind you, I am officially old now. But some of those songs still rock!! [] Cheers, Plug
  8. Some nice work there. Our lads would do a better job on the cable looms though... Cheers, Plug
  9. Sorry for you Dal, that looked a beauty before it was nicked. Still, every cloud and that. Very pleased to hear the thieving scumbags ended up in hospital. Let's all cross our fingers that they're in a lot of pain & take a long, long time to recover. Cheers, Plug
  10. Scooby powered Beetle sounds downright scary to me! 200bhp and the Beetle's legendary (lack of) handling... Could be fun though. Gonna make it 4WD as well for a bigger challenge? Cheers, Plug
  11. Spotted this one last week on holiday... Pure class. Cheers, Plug
  12. Greetings, citizens. Just got back from a week away in Majorca. Fairly common destination for us Brits, so I'm sure some of you may be planning a visit this summer. We rented a car while we were there (cheap as chips) and basically went to all 4 corners of the island. The rental company didn't seem impressed when I took it back after 4 days with another 700km on the clock.. but they who were the ones that said it was unlimited mileage, not me! Anyway, back to the subject line. If you're there and you've got something to drive, check out the road between Andratx and Valdemossa on the south-west side of the island. It climbs out of Andratx into the mountains and wiggles along the coast. I had to grin when I saw the signs saying bends.. next 17km. They weren't kidding, every 100m all the way. Beautiful smooth tarmac, a few sticky-out rocks and trees to focus the mind, driving heaven. Just a shame I was behind the wheel of a 1.4 Fiesta. I would have killed for a closed road and something tasty to attack it with, a group B short wheelbase Quattro springs to mind.. That's my pointer.. anyone else got a recommendation? Cheers, Plug
  13. The man's a complete charlatan. I hope it never finds a buyer.. I'm almost tempted to dob him in myself for being such a barefaced lying cnut. Cheers, Plug
  14. Or, to quote the slightly crueller version - Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life... Cheers, Plug
  15. Andy, how's the Beemer working out? I have to admit, 3 months in and the Merc isn't as much fun to drive as the Scooby. For a blast across Europe, no contest.. it would be the Merc every time, particularly if that blast included some unrestricted autobahn .. it is seriously fast once it is wound up. But I miss the Scoob.. most of my miles are local and I miss the punch of the turbo and the ability to swap cogs myself. I'll keep the Merc for a year or so, but then I'll be looking to change again. Hmm. Nothing ventured, nothing gained... Cheers, Plug
  16. What a bummer.. sorry for you mate. I'll keep an eye out, white scoobs are rare as rocking horse shit round here. Cheers, Plug
  17. Forget the CAB, they are well meaning but have no legal clout, get a lawyer on it. You have got a very good case, under the sale of goods act the car was clearly "not of merchantable quality" (a key phrase to drop if you are talking to the vendor again) if it blew up after 8 miles. Cheers, Plug
  18. I can put in a good word for 3com stuff. I've had an OfficeConnect combined ADSL modem/wireless access point/router since the day the broadband connection went live.. it's been very reliable. The power supply packed up (just after the warranty ran out!) but it's only a 5v plug in thingy so I just got another and it was off again. HTH Cheers, Plug
  19. As title.. Utter ghastliness Cheers, Plug
  20. I fancied one of those. I'd had a C240 in that shape though and found it a little uninspiring and heavy, but I didn't ever get to rag on the 43. I've driven a C240 and I'd agree.. it was a nice car but not sporty. The C43 is very different.. weighs about the same but has 305 BHP as opposed to 170, fat sticky rubber and properly set up suspension. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing, as a couple of 911 owners have discovered [] It's a lot less hardcore than your M3 though, but horses for courses. If I was going for a quick thrash or a track day, the M3 would be the tool of choice. Want to steam across Europe in a day? I'd take the C43, it would get there just as quick and I'd get out as relaxed as if I'd just driven to the shops. Cheers, Plug
  21. Sick but funny... LOL Cheers, Plug
  22. I've got a little Honda motorbike sat in the garage, which has been off the road for about 3 years. I dragged it out the other weekend when the weather was nice, washed it off and got it running again, which it wasn't keen about to start with. I was going to sell it, but I do like the wee beastie so I might stick it through an MOT and put it back on the road for the summer [] I had a look on eBay to see what they were going for and saw this one.. I don't normally go in for custom bikes but this is so OTT I love it! Who spends £4K on a monkey bike? Honda Dax clicky So, as title, what does everyone reckon? I *won't* be going down this route with mine.. it's staying original! Cheers, Plug
  23. I haven't seen another C43 on the road since I bought mine so I've had no-one to wave to! But they did only make 400 RHD ones.. not a common car [] Cheers, Plug
  24. Never seen the bloke one before, some good ones there []. I can imagine Al Murray reading that lot out. Cheers, Plug
