  1. A pearl of wisdom from another forum.. posted by one of the boys in blue (allegedly) S 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 states if a policeman in uniform has any reason to suspect that a vehicle is being used for harrassment ... is causing alarm, distress or annoyance .. then he has powers set out in subsection 3 of this act .... which give power to seize and remove said vehicle. It doesn't elaborate on distress or annoyance to who, though. The police officer? His dear old nan? I personally find caravans *extremely* annoying, perhaps I should join up and rid the roads of the blight they cause... It does sound like the guy has issues for threatening to impound your car for having a loud exhaust (unless you were impolite to him.. never a wise move with a copper).. but he was within his powers to do so Drive carefully, now. Cheers, Plug
  2. No need for reverse parking sensors on mine... It's got a towbar Cheers, Plug
  3. Old... but still funny! How many users these days see a C:> prompt? That dates it.... Cheers, Plug C:>fdisk /mbr .. ruin someone's day in 10 keystrokes
  4. Have a great time.. I haven't been for 3 years and my skis are quietly rusting in the spare room Enjoy, Plug
  5. I found it surprising that there are so many "current" cars in the list for something that represents the greatest car *ever*. Take the new mini, for example.. lots of people love 'em (I happen to think they are rubbish), but will they still be building it in 10 years time, let alone 35 odd years like the original? I somehow doubt it.. The newest car I could bring myself to vote for was from '94, so not even in its teens yet.. but then again, who would play devil's advocate against the McLaren F1 being one of the greatest cars ever.. no-one with an ounce of petrol in their veins (so that's every one on this forum, then) So I went for: AC Cobra, Original Mini (1959), Citroen DS, Ford Model T, E-type, Miura, McLaren F1, 911, Lotus Carlton and Jeep. At least if I had that lot in the garage I'd never be spoilt for choice.... And, yes, I didn't vote for the Impreza.. I love mine to bits as we all do, but there is nothing that hasn't been done before. Turbocharging? Try the Saab 99. 4WD? Jensen were doing that in 1968 (for a performance car, that is.. beat the Quattro to it by more than a decade). The Impreza.. great yes, greatest no. I think I'll go and put my flame suit on now... Cheers, Plug
  6. << 3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink. >> I tried that.. trouble was, I couldn't reach the paper afterwards Yours grossly, Plug
  7. Hmm, Think what it needs is a 3.0 H6 under the bonnet.... Cheers, Plug
  8. Wastegate actuator? Just knock it fully closed and enjoy the extra boost until the engine goes bang... just kidding! For all things rusty, go to your local engineering suppliers and ask for a can of "Tri-Flow".. this is a kind of supercharged WD-40 with added PTFE.. trust me, it is the best thing on the market. Not cheap, however.. the last time I bought a can it was £17, and that was some years ago but I still have it.. a little goes a long way.. Spray over the affected part, wait five minutes and then apply gentle percussive maintenance (i.e. tap it with a hammer). *Don't* muller it, it's just to break up the rusty bits. Once you have got things moving, re-apply the magic fluid and leave it to soak in. Worth a go.. Cheers, Plug
  9. Hi, I had problems with my A/C last year. IIRC the clutch is electromagnetic, if you lose gas from the the system it will not operate the clutch (as a safety measure to stop the compressor overheating/seizing). Once I got mine regassed (£50) it was all fine, back into chilly mode Cheers, Plug
  10. A great motorway car... Hmm.. the scooby sits on the motorway nice and quietly at cruising speeds, but so do the company Mondeos.. What was the VR4 like across country? I have seen one for sale that I'm thinking of having a look at.. I also know of an Audi RS2 available at the moment, devastating in a straight line but not as handy as the Scoob when it comes to getting around the twisty stuff.. Cheers, Plug
  11. Never look a gift horse in the mouth (or even a gift donkey... they have really bad teeth..) Is that unlimited bandwidth? Cheers, Plug
  12. Greetings, Citizens. As the title says, has anyone any experience of the above mentioned beasty? As I always have one eye open for the "next car", the spec seems to sit nicely... 280bhp V6, they make an estate version (dull, I know, but I'm old and like the practicality), as far as I can tell the only downside is that they were only made as automatics, which I'm not fond of... and most are imported, however I believe Ralliart brought a few in officially, which always makes the paperwork side easier... If anyone has any comments/pointers, all are welcome... Cheers, Plug
  13. And I thought the engine bay on mine was busy! Cheers, Plug
