Hi am new to owning an Impreza though not new to Subaru. Have bought a 2007/8 2.0R, and prior to collection the Subaru dealer was checking/servicing it. They found it a problem with a constant engine indication light warning, which apparently requires a new loom (not sure of the exact name) that is about a foot long (so I was told and it cannot be repaired). This needs to fit behind the dash and therefore is about a day's work to do. Does this sound right?
However, as I am being told, due to the problems with the volcano and sourcing parts via Subaru, the part needed is going to take a MONTH to come through, and even this is not definite. It is on back order, whatever that means for Subaru. They have offered a hire car but I don't want this, as I have not paid for a hire car, but that particular 2.0R car, and they still have my money etc. I don't think a month to wait is reasonable considering I left a deposit well over a month ago for the vehicle and have paid and done a part exchange etc. They now have bought my old car completely, and I am effectively left with no car.
Any suggestions? I have already told dealer that I will wait for car/part but require compensation, or to cancel deal totally with financial compensation, or they find me another car etc etc. Should I take hire car? The word lemon springs to mind (am I allowed to say that on here??)
