  2. Hello there, I was wondering, as I don't know if it's been asked before but, is there any window stickers or Membership Cards to say that we are Members of the SIDC..?? If there is anything like these available, how do I get are mits on em..!! Cause I'd like to show off what Club I'm a member of. Cheers, Mike
  3. Hello there, It's a pain in the ass isn't it..!!! I've had the same problem for ages, well it goes then comes back. All I can suggest, well a least sort it for a while is: Take off MAF Sensor, give it a good clean with carb cleaner, then put it back on. But first unplug the MAF Sensor grey connector and start the car and see what happens, if it starts ok and idles then definately clean the Sensor. you could also try and clean out the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), although that is a bit more tricky. Also what Air Filter you got on your Scooby..?? HKS Dry (Green Mushroom), the standard Air Box or a K&N Filter (Oil Coated)... So see how you go. Cheers, Mike

Hello there, I getting trouble now and again, with the Middle section of my Exhaust banging on the bottom of the Car and the Diff, when I give it some welly or change gear (It sounds like a backfire, but I've ruled that out). Also the rear box has an awefull lot of play. The mounts that are on it currently are supposedly universal, and are holding that part of the exhaust firmly enough, although they are still quite firm themselves..!! I've been looking around Ebay and Internet alike, to try and track some down. With not much luck as they all seem to be universal. Is there anywhere that sells tighter ones ie: the holes, or is there a way to tighten them up, so they are holding it better...??? Suggestions please. Cheers, Mike
  5. Hello people, I was thinking of cleaning my engine bay ie: Pressure Washer. So if I use a Pressure Washer with detergant, what do I need to cover up apart from the obvious, the air filter. Do I need to cover the Intercooler..?? Any suggestions, as to the best sort of detergant to use for such a job... Cheers, Mike
  6. Well trip distance is 246 miles. Went just short of exactly half way 122 miles on half a tank of Total Garages version of 97 RON (supreme something). So assuming its a 50 Lt tank that's 25 Lt's. I then filled back upto full again just incase. Then done the just over half 124 miles, A roads now and arrived at Looe with just under 1/4 of a tank. Actually that' s not as bad as I thought. Roughly 22-26 MPG I think. If anyone works it out different, please post, cause again mine is approximate. Cheers, Mike...

  11. I was wondering what the average miles in a Scooby, with a full tank of petrol. Cause I was trying to work out whether, I could make it to Cornwall (246 miles) from where I live, or would I need to top up again...??? Anybody know. Cheers, Mike
  12. I've been snooping around the Web, for a bit more info on what's known as Knock Detination, and what the differences between 95 and 97 RON. Anyway, here goes... Are all Brands of Fuel the same..?? The quick answer is that all fuels are not the same. We typically buy petrol by its Octane level. The octane rating or RON is solely an indicator of how resistant the fuel is to knock. (Knock is premature ignition caused by pressure within the engine). In general most Japanese performance cars require a high RON fuel as the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) use high octane as standard. If you increase the compression in an engine or add a turbo for example you will certainly benefit from the extra RON. An engine contains a knock sensor and if it detects that knock is occuring it reduces the fuel sent to the engine, thereby decreasing power. If you put higher octane fuel in your car it is unlikely to cause damage. Unless the engine is experiencing knock on a lower octane fuel you are unlikely to get any performance benefit either. Running an engine which requires high octane fuel on a lower octane will typically cause damage. So avoid going lower than your manufactures specification. High octane fuel does not meanit is more powerful or that you will get better fuel economy. It just means that it is more resistant to Engine Knock. High octane fuels in the UK typically range from 97-99 RON. Check with your local forecourt. Try a higher octane and see if you benefit from it, if you do then this shows that the engine was not operating at peak efficiency under the lower octane. There are race fuels also avialable that exceed 99 RON, but should only be used in highly modified engines or engines which run high comressions such as Japanese cars and tubo cars.
