  1. Much obliged for that mate. Will give it a go. So the only thing with a hole in it is the vent? Surely, that could be replaced quite cheaply? Thanks.
  2. Hi. I have just picked up my 56 Spec D and this also has rust spots in the drainage channel below the rear windscreen. I asked them to sort them out prior to pick up but they said it wasn't a problem and that it was where the water sits in the channel??? They just told me to keep an eye on it.
  3. Hi everyone, Picked my Spec D up today. Was under the impression (wrongly!) that the Smartnav could be removed. I dont want it to get broken into for the Smartnav and am not overly bothered about it anyway. Was wondering if anyone could guide me through removing it? Thanks
  4. Just a final reply to the thread. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. I have put a deposit on one today and collect it Sat!
  5. Thanks. 20-25mpg seems reasonable. I would be happy with that. I aint buying for economy but don't want to have the fuel consumption of a Bentley either!!! Servicing doesn't seem too bad either.
  6. Im scared now! 70 - 90 miles for £30 doesn't sound too good!
  7. Hope so! I'm getting impatient! Doing some more research whilst I wait though ;-)
  8. Hi everyone, Im new here. Have searched online and forums but could do with some definitive advice. I will ask direct questions with the hope of some good replies from you guys! Looked at STI Spec D today. Really liked it and the Missus gave it the thumbs up too, so doing well. This is what I need to know: 1) Prices for 70k, 80k, 90k services? 2) Realistic MPG. I do a 24 mile commute with a 30s, 40s & national mix. MPG and range from a tank? 3) Any expensive parts? Electronics and Brembo brakes bits are my main worries! 4) Anything I have missed? I have priced up road tax (£435/year - robbing ....), insurance (£845 fully comp) and rough fuel calculations. Any advice at all will be welcome. Thanks guys.
  9. I think it had had a different turbo fitted as well. Trying to remember what was on the invoices!!! All work was carried out at Gatwick Subaru.
  10. Yeah, I also like the look of the STI Spec D! Is this one a potential time bomb then running at 304bhp???
  11. Thanks for your reply. This is all new to me so you will have to bear with me. There were two invoices with the car that I saw. One was for £3800 and one about a year later for £4200. Both were from a Subaru main dealer and included a 2003 STI ECU, re-map, exhaust, etc. There was also a dyno print out from a rolling road which showed 304bhp. Sorry I can't help more as I only looked at the car briefly.
  12. Hi all, I am brand new here. After having performance cars in the past but having had a break for the past three years, I fancy a Subaru now. Saw this one today at a dealer near Worksop. Had bills for £8000 at Subaru for Prodrive upgrades including ECU, re-map, exhaust, etc, etc. Also had full Subaru history on time or mileage and 1 owner. It has been 'rolling-roaded' at 304bhp. I have looked round it including underneath and it is mint. Just after advice really. Is it too dear? Also how will the mods harm my insurance (im 30 with 10 years NCB)? Should I start off with something standard? Any advice at all would be most welcome. Link: http://www.evanshalshaw.com/vehiclesearch/...alse&type=1
