fai17 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 It's a quick fix to fool the ecu that everything it's ok......It depends how much you are paying for the quick fix as it would be better to spend the money on the remap then and only then will be 100% safe. What normally happens when you decat your car is that your o2 sensor picks up a fault(it could be lean or rich) and by fitting a resistor(self fix or quick fix)it fools the ecu that everything is ok. Hope that helps you a little.
darryl_martin Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Sorry to hijack, am thinking of fitting a sports cat to mine, is this likely to mess up the o2 sensor aswell. Is it the increased gas flow, or the lack of a cat that confuses it?

About a couple of months down the line my engine management light came on, got it checked, it was an emissions warning. Was told it was due to the high flow d/pipe. It came on again about a month ago canceled the error again at Subaru, basically nothing to worry about my car runs fine. But would say the remapping is a must for safety sake. Craig.
