st3ph3n
"Wastegate Chatter" is actually the noise of the turbo blades "chopping" through the air in the turbo that hasn't escaped out through the dump valve. So it has nothing to do with the wastegate. The wastegate is on the exhuast side of your turbo rather than the intake side of it, so it doesn't replace the dump valve. Your car, and indeed I imagine all turbo cars have a wastegate already installed. The wastegate is opened when the turbo reaches target boost pressure and it diverts some of the exhuast gasses away from the turbo so as not to build up too much boost which could destroy the engine or the turbo itself. You cannot change the wastegate as it is housed within the turbo itself on Imprezas. You could move to a larger turbo with an external wastegate, but that's not required until you get over large amounts of horse power. Hope that helps. Link to comment

HOL
Pull off the small hose to your dump valve and put a something in the end. Your DV will no longer work and you should get chatter. Link to comment

darryl_martin
I've got a K&N cone filter Used to get it on my classic with induction kit and vta dumpvalve. This reduced to a kind of quiet whistle when I changed the IK for a panel filter, hence the question about the filter. Heard a description of what it was along the lines of Ste3p3n's, didn't sound too good for the car so not in a rush to get it back, tho I do miss it[] Link to comment
