stephen_cheyne Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Have owned my STi 8 for nearly a year now and a strange beeping noise for a few seconds has started inside the car yesterday? Had it on the way home again? Did a search on the internet and came across an option on RAC Trackstar that detects speed cameras. None of the Trackstar docs I have with the car indicate such an option being fitted so didn't think it was that but hey driving to work again this morning beeped again as approaching a speed camera. Tested this on the way home again at another 4 cameras and it beeped approaching each one but only it you were going the way that the camera would take you. Weird, never heard this noise in all the year that I've owned it. Any thoughts or similar experiences? Going to phone the test check phone number for Trackstar to see if they can locate my car as I've read a few horror stories of them not being able to find some Scoobies. Cheers, Stephen.
fai17 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Thats new to me m8...Haven't heard of that one before
2559B Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 the RAC trackstar has an option ( IIRC ) ....... it's called "speedsafe" it basically bleeps when you go over the speed limit or approach static camera's. This option is only available when you call up RAC and get it activated. maybe it's been activated by mistake ( I had nothing but trouble with my RAC trackstar .... so nothing these monkey's do would surprise me !!) Good Luck.. Ally.
sma01 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 give Gav(scoobyseller555) @ Ian Grieve subaru a bell on 01324 605100, he may be able to give you an idea as to what it is.
stephen_cheyne Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Must be a speed camera detector driven by GPS as it's beeping before every fixed speed camera and I've heard snoopers etc only beep if the cameras are actually active. Strange how it's just started as long as someone doesn't start charging me for it. Stephen.
