Lets go for a ride.....note new dates !!

Rather than relying on Essex to provide us with our run-outs I wonder if there's enough interest in organising one of our own next month , perhaps Saturday 11th or 18th February. Going down to the coast is perhaps the obvious destination and yes I know that its still a bit cold but we could always find a fish shop on the front for something to eat when we got there.

It's since been suggested that we make it either Sunday 19th or 26th - I hadn't realised quite so many people worked on a Saturday and we could also make more of a day of it , grab a pub lunch etc and possibly more people would come along knowing that they could bring their littl'uns, which with hindsight is probably a better idea. You can tell that I no longer have wee folk to worry about - what a selfish b88tard I am face-icon-small-happy.gif So we're now going to have to relist preferences for 19th or 26th ok.

Herne Bay or Whitstables fine by me and theres no doubt somewhere we could grab a bite to eat . Doesn't it defeat the object of having a "cruise" though if you're going to be able to walk there lol face-icon-small-happy.gif At least if the weather turned bad we could all go back to yours ...........face-icon-small-wink.gif

This is good, keep the ideas and suggestions coming, I'm probably going to be taking a back seat (or passenger lol face-icon-small-wink.gif ) for a while, but will still be keeping an eye on things - don't think my courtesy car could keep up with you lot lol face-icon-small-tongue.gif I may even be along for this one face-icon-small-wink.gif

At the end of the day it takes more than one person to make an idea work....

Hastings would undoubtedly be a better bet - bit more going on than in Herne Bay (local shops for local people....) and more fun getting there as the north kent coast after all is just a slog along the main road . Well if everyones happy with Hastings we'd best decide on the 11th or 18th and the time. I'm happy with either date and whatever times convenient so perhaps someone could start a list face-icon-small-wink.gif Looks like the usual faces again although the thread has only just started.

14.00 no good as a few of us have to work.

we was looking 6pm start ish.

best idea is to put your name down and any date you cant make then clarify date neare the time.

ie

scoobytoo

this means i can make both dates

ie

granby 18th

this means he's not available this day.face-icon-small-happy.gif

G'day,

Sounds like a good idea , the only problem I have is I work until 18:30 and I cant see annyony wanting to start of from East Dulwich so I would have to come down later, you never know we may even make Hastings Cruise as big as Sarfend and in the summer we could always pop down to Fairlight beach face-icon-small-wink.gif Fridays tend to be tight for me as I have family comittments alot on that night,I'll keep an eye on things,

ok people after several pm 's from members regarding "a drive out", the evening may prove difficult with people that have young children.

can i make a suggestion please? obviously we need to try and find a day/date that is suitable to as many ks as possible. the more the merrier, including the little ones.

it would seem that a day out would probably be best run on a sunday. this way MOST people will be off on at least one sunday in a month, ie due to shift work etc. daytime would be more favourable for parents with younger children. that way they can enjoy the day too!

on a sunday we could also stop off either there or back for a pub lunch, roast dinner yum yumface-icon-small-smile.gif

please post your feelings on this, as i think we all rushed in with both feet before weighing up the practicalities.

suggested dates for FEB then....................???

SUN 19TH FEB

SUN 26TH FEB.

moved the dates on a bit to give people chance to make arrangements and get as many people going as possible

Good idea Dean. A sunday would be better for us, as I work on Saturdays, and of course the kids would love to come too, so slightly earlier, would make it more enjoyable for them. Either date is fine with us.

Seems I'm in the minority in so far as I work two complete weekends out of every five - if we go for a Sunday I'd only be able to make the 19th.
