stuboo Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Anyone know the best place to get ma wheels redone Edinburgh area pref but constantly across central belt so doesn't need to be and any idea how much?
chris_c201 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Alright Mate, If your able to get to Glasgow there is a place near St Georges Cross just at the top of the town called Auto Image, its on Gt Western Road. I was £160 for my wheels to get refurbed and finished in anthracite grey (they were gold). Price depends on the finish and also what size of wheels, mine are 17's. The guy i dealt with was called Iain, really decent guy and i couldn't fault them, they also put loan wheels on the car so i took it up for about 20 mins on the Tuesday and then about 20 mins again on the Saturday to get them swapped over, If your interested let me know and i'll get the number. Cheers Chris.
IanJ Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Auto Image also have a place in Edinburgh. They do some very nice work.
stuboo Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 ma wheels are 18" and when I get them done i am looking for 215x35 tyres aswell as the wheels being blasted I know where the AutoImage is within Edinburgh and will get costs for the work so thanks guys and any sugestions for tyres would be appreciated
chris_c201 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Alright Mate, The glasgow auto-image certainly do pretty good deals on tyres so i imagine the edinburgh branch would be the same. Most people seem to airing towards Toyo T1-r's, not sure about that size for them but anyway, I'm looking at the end of Feb for new tyres and i'll either be going to Toyo T1-s or T1-r's if i can stretch my cash a bit..... For info, the finish on my wheels is absolutely immaculate, had them done about 3 months or so now and there genuinely isn't a mark on them (i'm gonna kerb it soon after saying that now ain't i, lol)
gus the bus Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Try Auchenlea Tyres Between Newhouse and Wishaw (@ the Auchenlea tip) I've always shopped around for tyres and they come up tops for large size good branded low profiles. Other good bet is DPH in Bathgate on the rd out to Whitburn they too have been very competitive (and handy for your work). Gus
dave_morgan Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I remember someone mentioning £40 a wheel from Autoimage in Edinburgh a while ago as well. The Glasgow and Edinburgh branch may well use the same company to do the refurb. HTH
SEEVERS Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Don't mean to put a dampener on this thread but i have personally used Auto Image in Glasgow b4 to refurb a set of alloys on my old Honda VTi. They lasted all of 3 months b4 a pink residue started to show through on all of the wheels. Went back to see him(Ian)and first thing he says is"are you sure you got them done here"...Tosser. He then tells me they are very busy at the moment and could i call him in 3 days to give him a chance to speak to whoever it was they used to do the powdercoating, which i did. Cue 3 weeks of chasing him over the phone and 2 visits to the shop to be told "he's out at the moment". Got made an offer on the car by someone who had other plans for it.....wheels,bodykit,engine and other various mods so it didn't matter to him......car sold, new one purchased. Vowed never to spend another penny in there though.....CRAP job,CRAP service. Rant over Del.
