irish al
Nearly bought a solid uppipe today for my 2003 wrx. Is there any difference from the solid on and a flexi type one. Then i found these on ebay, not sure what to go for now, decissions, decissions, decissions. Uppipe Any advice !!! Link to comment
=Robbo=
Al, the H&S one is slip jointed for expansion, it's like one pipe that slides over another and the two can be pulled apart. As far as I know this is the best solution as the flexi joint type will just fail eventually. It's probably the only H&S thing I would recommend as I think they are overpriced. But it's an expensive part to have fitted as it?s a turbo off job and needs to be right. Remember to budget for heat wrapping mate, anyone that tells you different is at it. Robbo. PS: Some ?03 WRX?s had the up pipe studs splayed at the end to stop them coming loose and simply cannot be removed! If you have a ?03 on, it would be worth getting some up pipe studs before you get the job done, just in case or it will cost you ramp time otherwise. Link to comment
imprezapete
Solid is what I think Al AndyF's test of a flexi join on headers with a higher boast made my mind up. Cant say about the H&S one, but I would go solid if I was to replace the up-pipe. You getting new headers and an up-pipe? Link to comment
irish al
Not sure yet. Just had a read up on his project wrx. Looks like he ended up fitting a set of fully ported OE headers and a solid uppipe. Could get my oe headers ported and just fit the uppipe. Link to comment
fai17
Don't get the Megan headers from Ebay. I'm sure AndyF has blown them up before. If you want the burble to stay i would port your oe headers but that means your car will be off the road for a while as your header is away getting poated. If you fancy a change from the burble i would get either HKS,GT Spec or Gruppe S Headers. The last 2 are the cheaper option. If you like to listen to mines just ask m8. Link to comment
