Jazmac Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 What happen to the MAF sensor if i fit an induction kit is it bypassed and not used or is it just unplugged and left off. the reason im asking is i think i now have a faulty maf to add to all the other faults to the list and instead of buying a new maf sensor can i fit an induction kit instead. ?
dipsy Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I don't think the car will run if you unplug maf or do away with it.You can do a way with the maf when you have like a motec or gems ecu fitted to car and maped .I think if you buy a new maf and running a induction kit might blow maf again running lean ie new engine.I have a my2000 uk turbo owned from new i am on third maf the panel filter i have was to blame for nackering one of them. This is just my idea or send Andy f an email with his vast knowledge on the impreza
Jazmac Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 at the moment my car runs and idles better with the maf unplugged, as soon as its plugged in it pops with miss fire or cuts out. i think i need a new MAF, what do u mean the fillter caused it, was it the fibers from the filter contaminating the sensor?
drb5 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 The amount of air of that goes by/through the sensor and less filtration of particles, damage the sensor.
dipsy Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 It was the service manager at the subaru dealer near me said that panel filter nackered maf still got a new one under warranty its something to do with the oil in the filter.I open my air box every so often and wipe the metal gauze before maf and there always black dust this was the same with the subaru filter
drb5 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Simply a Subaru dealer. It doesn't come cheap anywhere.
dipsy Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Go to subaru dealer or Awd keep these in stock if you go to dealer ask for the maf itself because they won't to sell the plastic tube the maf sits in.I know Awd keep these because i asked before Andy f tek3 my my2000 uk turbo just in case i needed one but i didn't hope this helps you out Jazmac
jcscoob Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 clean it with break cleaner or a new one £65 ish make sure it is one with a green spot on it as thay are a bit tougher. indution kit starts before the maf sensor so if you get an indution kit you still need a new maf. iv just been trough the same $hit !!
craigdmcd Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I think the Subaru number you are looking for is 22794AA010. This is the number of the one I got for my mates MY2000 turbo 3 months ago.

jcscoob Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 AWD 01738 633336 To clean, take out the two torque screws unplug and remove, then spray with break cleaner a good few times, once dry put back together and test !! or it might just be fe(ked
