can anyone help please?

Sometimes when i change gear i hear a dull thud coming from the underside of the car, today it was an almighty thud causing the cd to jump and it shook the car, i am assuming it is the gearbox, has anyone any ideas as to what this noise is and whats involved with fixing it, i still have one month of my warranty left but ive done some mods and feel that if this is a gearbox problem subaru may try and wriggle out of their liability, and advice would be really welcome.

Could be a the Pitch damper or some of the box mounts broken.

Have a look at the Pitch damper first. Its the one that goes between the engine and the bulkhead, behind the intercooler.

Grab hold of it and give it a tug, see what happens.

Failing that, you will need to get under the car and check the rest of the mounts.

If it was me, I would get your mods off and stick her back to the garage for a closer inspection if I couldnt find the fault myself.

that happened to my car and i also sometimes felt a judder when letting the clutch out

in first gear, there is a bracket under the gearbox that looks like a strenghtening bar

and that had come loose, i would check that

Spot on Jason , was the stengthening bar that was loose, tightened it up myself and viola, problem solved, thanks for help jamie and jason

Pleased to hear you're sorted out Gordon.

Spotted you a few weeks ago and gave you a wave as I was coming off the bypass in Dumfries heading towards Matalan. Car's looking well!

Also saw you at the wee kids nursery/Nisashop in Calside aswell a few weeks back I think. I was in Dumfries visting my family and my parents stay just along the road from there.

mines does it too....this damn paddle clutch is a nightmare to get used too....hahahaha
