ed-209 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 What do you guys think of the Blitz Nur-spec exhaust. I am thinking of putting on just a back box, does anyone know if this would mess up the warranty. I am just wanting rid of the "Stealth mode exhaust". any advice would be welcome. Ed.
jamie_wood Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Good bit of kit the Blitz. Cant be beaten for quality and sound It will be louder and will look much better Warranty....just need to remove it if your car is going in for a warranty repair Go for it
st3ph3n Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Ed, I slapped a Hayward and Scott backbox on my '05 WRX last Friday, courtesy of the lovely people at Motorsport World in Strathaven. It took all of 10 minutes for Simon to install the backbox, and my old one is safely tucked away in the garage in case I need to make the car completely warranty friendly again. It is WELL worth doing. It's like the spirit of my car was bursting to get out, and now it's unleashed for all to see and hear. Car feels like it pulls a little bit better lower down the revs too. Probably just my imagination though.
oobster Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Ed, i've got a Ninja backbox from scoobyworld on mine.... looks & sounds the dug's danglies
Johnny50 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Ed, i've tried the following on mine, in this order. Magnex oval - Nice sound, not intrusive at all, especially when cruising. Scorpion - Compared to the Magnex, it was silent. Didn't like it. TSL Firestorm - Bit louder than the Magnex, slightly more aggresive noise, especially at higher revs. HKS Hyper - Loved this one, fair bit louder than the Firestorm i found, but i wanted more noise. Blitz Nur Spec R - Fantastic noise, nice'n loud, but started to do more long distances, and decided to change. Hayward & Scott - Noise levels probably the same as the Magnex, although the Anti-lag kinda killed it a bit. The blitz and H&S were only ever on the car with HKS headers, so not sure what the rumble was like i'm afraid. Sorry to go on, hope this helps.
spooks Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Really need to get a new one on mine , it just looked so tiny last weekend at the show .................... oi I mean the exhuast I personally love the sound of Blitz or Afterburner, the blitz being the loudest thing I have heard........................... EVER Spooks
sheep Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I have the full afterburner system on mine and it sounds great but i dont think my neighbours would agree

I reckon at the next Hillington meet I'm gonna have to try to hear what zorsts are what so that I can compare it to my own. The one problem with not letting anyone else drive your car, is that you cannae hear the burble as it passes you. Everyone elses exhaust sounds the biz but I just can't compare to my own other than at idle ( or with the windaes doon which isn't the same ) @ Ed - attza attitude. New zorst ...... Loud and Proud. Cheers Davie PS - What is "NUR" spec ?
imprezapete Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Well I dont know about the back box on its own, but I have had a full turbo back decat with a 3" Blitz Nur Spec R on and it was MEGA loud. It was major tasty in noise and power increase. But a full days driving and it does you head in. Low speed driving can be a pain as it really noises up people when just giving it a bit gas. Its a great exhaust full stop, just noisey. talking 150 DB+ for a full decat version.
fai17 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 get to a meet and hear some for yourself. i love mines but i ain't telling what it is
harry_hood Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 the scooby clinic back box i have fitted is really noisey, the neighbors have started complaining all ready
JamesF Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 It's short for Nurburgring, as in the exhaust set up originally on a skyline at Nurburgring I think.
Johnny50 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 << << >> FFS !!! you getting club card points on your exhaust expenditure ( or making full use of SIDC discounts ????? ) Davie PS - What is "NUR" spec ? >> Nah, just think change is a good thing.
Gee Wr1 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 << It's short for Nurburgring, as in the exhaust set up originally on a skyline at Nurburgring I think. >> Pretty sure it was a Supra. Had a Blitz on last WRX i had & loved it If your after noise with a deep bassy burble that rises through the revs this is the one you want, if you want to drive by unnoticed it's not Lol It's defo one of the best looking & sounding exhausts for the scoob, still miss mine.
Don Mega Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Full Blitz NUR spec R on mine and it sounds awesome!!! had an afterburner vortex from scoobyworld on my old car and thought it sounded good, but i like the blitz much better! The blitz also looks the mutts nutts with the NUR stamped on it. Get one mate you wont be dissapointed. D.
ed-209 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 another quick question on this topic, with a blitz nur and panel filter something like K&N and maybe a better dump valve to stop the turbo stalling would I see any performance boost. Ed
Johnny50 Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I'd stick with the standard d/v is i were you. Unless you really want to change it.
johnnyr6 Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 You won't see any change in performance with changing your dumpvalve, it'll give you a wooshing sound though. Exhaust and filter is the way to go but be careful with which filter you get as the maf is easily damaged. The STI panel filter works well, next.... up the boost
