st3ph3n Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I want to keep my new baby in pristine sparkling form, but is regular car cleaning products (swissol for me) up to the task or is there something else I should be using?
oobster Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I use AutoSol on my exhaust, seems to bring it up nice
Stiks Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Autosol, or Meguiars do an NXT product that works well on steel and chrome. I have both. the nxt smells nice Keith
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Also when installing a new exhaust, wipe of any finger prints on the system because they'll be left for ever once the system gets hot. C&C use alcohol to wipe the after they have installed IIRC
st3ph3n Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 I didn't end up getting it done at C+C as they were talking about hacking bits off the centre section. The backbox was handled at all times with gloves mind you, and I couldn't see any prints on it, so that's a bonus. I'll take a stroll into Halfrauds and see if they have any Autosol or the Meguiars stuff. I do enjoy nice smelling cleaning products. The swissol samurai wax smells so nice that you could probably eat a spoonful, a la clarkson on top gear. The car bath smells of coconuts too, but I don't like the taste of them.
tino Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Err I used Jif (now Cif I believe, sounds vaguely like an STD) seemed to work quite well
JamesF Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Autosol works well if you keep on top of the cleaning but Autoglym has a grittier compund and is good at removing those stubborn stains. What am I saying, aye get autoglym it's the dugs baws !!!
st3ph3n Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 I wash it once a week mainly, any less than that and it makes baby jesus cry. I gave it a quick blast (from a distance of course) with the power washer at work today seeing as we had some rain t'other day. There's usually a big problem doing it with that as it ends up with horrible water marks, but a combination of better soap, and me taking it out for a 10 minute blast right after means it's almost as sparkly as the hands on swissol treatment, which it received on Sunday of course. Found a great benefit for the exhaust too. The security gaurds can hear me driving past and so the gate is always open for me leaving the compound!
