gordyN01 Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 was thinking of getting new pads for 04 wr1 brembo calipers what anyone have sugestions on what types was thinking of ds 2500 or ebc red stuff ceramc
oobster Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 i've heard a few folk say the Pagid 4-2-1 pads are good for {fast} road use, thinking of getting them myself when the current standard ones wear down a bit
wrxmania Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Pagids are the best but quite expensive. I have them. Ferrodo DS2500 are also good. Neither of these is noisy like some of the cheaper performance pads. Brian
oobster Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Brian.... perhaps you could give me a bit of advise..... are either of those pads (pagid or ferrodo) bad for coating the alloys the first time you brake after washing the car? The standard pads don't seem to chuck out much dust (maybe not using them hard enough!!) but if i'm gonna upgrade when I need a set, i'd like the new pads not to be too dusty
Gumball Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 DBA 4000 or DBA 5000 discs Mintex 1155 pads new fluid
paddy247 Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 1155 compound on the pads are best for track use and have been known to make a bit of noise, the 1144 compound is a fast road pad and very suitable, id recomend mintex-ctec pads in this compound.
Gumball Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 sorry, i do drive as though im on the track. please ignore me then and get the ones paddys recommended. 1144's are the ones to get. saying that ..........................................................................................................as i said, get the 1155's anyway LOL i used the 44's and didnt like them, went to the 55's and love them
RS Grant Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I've been recommended the 1155's too...... Does that mean that the person was having an indirect dig at my 'enthusiastic' driving style by recommending them over the 1144 for me?! Cheers, Grant
ozzy Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I found DS2500 pads VERY dusty. Performance was very good though. On my second set of EBC Redstuffs. They perform pretty well, but initial bite from cold can be poor and they don't last very long. May try the Pagids next time around.
fraser_drinkwater Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Im currently using the 1155 pads and DBA 4000 series discs on my bug eye wrx, and think they are the way ahead. True they are squeeky for the first 5 mins, but when they are warmer there isnt much better. The 1144 are softer and will need changed earlier, so more £ going out.
paddy247 Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Gordy as you see from the posts above the two pads ie 1155 and 1144 are for different styles of driving, It depends on what you are after, I hope we have been of help to you
jamie_wood Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 If your using EBC pads and they are okay......then your driving too slow. A set of RED's only lasted 6 laps at KH and they were gone, totaly melted. They are middle of the road for everyday use. Pagid or Mintex semm to be the way to go. They are a prefered choice in the grpn rally world, so thats enough of a reputation for me to uuse them on

scuba dou Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Had the 1144's and pulled them off the car after a few hundread miles, binned them 1155's are better...but only just; but the DS2500's are the way to go That's why you get them as standard with 355mm/6 pot big brake kits from AP racing
sma01 Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 got to be 1155's mate. would strongly advise against pagid, had them on my wrx and thought they were $hite, but thats only an opinion....
