ian_finlayson Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Going to be going back to work for the first time since I bought my rb5. I'll be away for 3 months and will be leaving my car in parents garage. I've done this before with previous cars with varying results. Sometimes I leave battery disconnected, sometimes Mum takes the car out every couple of weeks, (or not, hence two flat batteries) RB5 has tracker so dont want to disconnect battery this time and dont trust mum so I'm going to put it on a trickle charger, any advice on models preferably cheap. I've seen a couple on ebay but not sure. Some very cheap. Thanks for the help Ian
the squiggle Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Disconnect the battery and put a trickle charge on it with a piece of thin guage wire between the Battery terminal and clamp so the ecu will still get enough power to keep the tracker and memory values alive. A 10 amp fuse would suffice as the current is very low to keep the tracker and ecu alive Grant
ian_finlayson Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 Can't I just leave the battery connected woth the trickle charger
the squiggle Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Tad dodgy to just connect and leave for 3 months. With the thin guage wire and 10 amp fuse that will blow at the first sign of overheating/loading Grant
evo baz Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 What your after is a draper battery master. Plug in, connect to battery, switch on, job done. Leave for as long as you like and the car will start first time. £20 from halfords
