Guest Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 one of my mates was last week caught doing 106 in a 70 on the a90 to aberdeen what can he expect from the judge?? he has never had any other conviction but works offshore like myself so can not realy plead that he needs his licence for his job. should he expect a hefty fine and a short ban or long ban and small fine??
Gumball Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 talking to someone yesterday i think he said his mate got caught and is looking at a months ban. That was for something crazy like 112 i think.
Big Daz Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 looking at a ban I believe - generally anything over 100 is. Daz
imprezapete Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 From what I have seen and heard you can expect up to 2 year ban and 3 figure sum But it really depends on the conditions and his need of a car for life/work. Also I have heard of judges being more lenent for people that show they are sorry for what the done. I think its best to turn up at court as well to plead his case. Hes looking at ban, unless he can find a reason why it wouldn't be. How did they catch him? you really need to get as many details as possible. Was it a fixed camera, mobile, speed gun or a police car????
Adam Kindness Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 a freind of mine got cought doing 105 or so in my car... 6points and a hefty (1000 or so i think fine) he pleaded that he needed his car for work though
neilswrx Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 easy just say you were testing the car for work purpose,s well that copper got away that one
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 UK Law, fines and points. Known officially in the UK as "EXCEEDING SPEED LIMIT", this table shows baseline penalties you can expect. It's correct as of December 2004. Each case will be looked at individually, to assess factors such as time of day, road type and conditon, weather conditions etc. The fine is now also based upon the financial circumstances of the offender, leading to payment within 12 months. up to 15mph over the posted limit £44 £30 3 16mph to 25mph over the posted limit £45-£100 £30 4 26mph to 35mph over the posted limit £45-£200 £30 5-6 36mph or more over the posted limit £67-£300 £30 Ban 1 month to 12 months I think he'll be okay Cal
WRC No 1 Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 he will expect an automatic 1 years ban. over 99mph gives a 1 year ban and what ever fine the judge gives at the time. or unless ur a copper and give a pathetic excuse at 140+ mph and get away with it. wullie
road warrior Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 The guy I work with got caught doing 110 on the A1 near Haddington the end of last year, charged him with dangerous driving. He was chased buy the cop car and pulled over. He appeared at court in person. Pleaded not guilty, and got 6 points and £450 fine + costs.
Guest Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 was caught by a mobile van in the middle of the day on a tue. was wet but not raining. he works offshore so can't plead his licence is needed 4 his job. he is very sorry and will say so. he was doing 36mph over the limit so will probably get a year!! and hefty fine by the stats above.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I think the fines are scaled on how much you earn these days too so he could be in for a hefty sting
Croc Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I have little sympathy for him. Doing over 100mph in the wet is stupid.
Guest Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 lucky he is an apprentice then still on crap money at the minute but will be due to go up shortly but will probably have a court visit before that!!
