billyboy Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Good run down and back. That was the highlight of the day. Thanks to Karps,Keap Scooby and Ricey for going with us.Pretty poor turnout, not as many cars as the last two years and it was very cold and overcast. Im going to have a word with other Scottish regional organisers with respect to a Scottish Big One.Im sure we could do better. Was speaking to Craig Mudd and looking at his fantastic car, must spend every waking hour polishing it. Ricey your car was far better than the three finalists for best on day. See you all soon Billyboy
chrissy Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 hav 2 agree wif ya about riceys bein nicer than the 3 "best" cars of the day lol. it was a gd run down but pity about the weather
Gumball Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 did i pass the karps mobile at 0715hrs yesterday near the bridge ob the m80 bend? dejavu i thought i had. looked a lot like mine
harvey_smith Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 The weather was cold for June and it tried to rain at one point but so many Scoobs in one field is still very impressive. Slightly down on last years effort of 400 odd but this years efffort was diluted with the planned "Southern Big One" At least there was a good collection for the two charities which was the important bit. The convoy down from Scotch Corner was most impressive. On the field, only a very small minority indulged in thoughtless behaviour, reving up when the PA was on, litter, or driving away at high speed although that was more prevalent from the RSOC in the next field where entry on foot was £4 each. Not worth it unless you have a Ford I guess. The main prize was donated by BAE Systems, Blackburn and organised by Chris Towers from LADS. It had to be drawn three or perhaps four times before there was a taker and yours truly was the winner. A flight in a powered glider. There are restrictions however. *Min Age - 14 or Older. * Max Height _ 6'2". * Max Weight - 14 stones. * No Physical Disabilities. * In Good Health. Four out of five are no problem but there is a challenge on for one.
Rice Rocket Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Not bad day out BUT a VERY BAD turnout for the Scottish Scoobies myself and Karps at Bothwell services, met up with billyboy at annan and Keapscooby at Scotch Corner and Ken (with the 555 scoob already there) so 5 in total Cheers for the vote of best car guys, i think too, but not everyone likes the look of mine. Each to there own at the end of the day. Rice Rocket
MS S6CUB Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Come on Ricey - where's the pics of the car then... bling bling
Rice Rocket Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 http://www.performance-zone.co.uk/nbo3%20photos/index.html Just goes to show that our scoobs are better than the english scoobs, they cant even take pictures of them!!!
teknopete Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Billy, What you gotta remember with the scottish scoobs (in general) bud is that if there`s a choice between driving 300 miles to sit your car in a field or drive significantly less miles and get out on track or even spectate, the later will win hands down. Unfortunately the date clashed with KH hence the low turnout for NBO from this end, as a lorge number of the members up here tend to participate in events they can take an active part in, rather than fall into the show n shine brigade. It`s also one hell of a distance jus to sit in a field. OK it gives you the opportunity to meet the peebs we interact with, but its at a huge expence. Myself and quite a few others travelled down to the 1st one in 2003 and the concensus was that almost half of us wouldn`t do it again. Last year i suggested that the venue be changed every year to make the travelling fair on all members, but that idea was chucked out without any real consideration IMHO. So rest assured I for one wont be attending it again unless there`s a signifiicant change in my circumstances. Hey each to their own fella. Hope u all enjoyed it. Pete
billyboy Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Pete, I agree with what you say and i for one wont be doing it again. There was a nice collection of scoobs and two VERY NICE blondes handing out flyers. I think that over the winter months the regional organisers should get together and sort out a Scottish get together. It was a good drive down and back, the reaction of people on holiday when the car park at Scotch Corner was full of scoobies was something to be seen. Can i suggest that all the regional organisers get together for a meet sometime? Billy. I also thought it was a damn cheek that the R.S owners club were charging four quid when they could look at our cars for free.
teknopete Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Billy, We`ve had a few of our own already m8 ;o) Not as large scale normally about 100 cars per event. The 1st McBig 1 was at knockhill 2 years ago, then last years was at Alford. This years is at Alford again (in 2 weeks I think) check null Get you`re lads up there this time m8 Pete
dougster Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I remember the first Scottish Big One Pete!! Does anyone else know???? I was at the first NBO and still have the t-shirt. This month is extremely busy for Scottish Scoobies so don't be too down hearted at the recent turnout and look forward to a HUGE turnout at the Scottish National!!!!!!!
teknopete Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Back in the days Doug eh How long was it ....... 2 months we had to organise it, an we still got 109 motas to turn up. Yeah buddy them was the dayz, when peebs went to things and were totally up 4 it. Actually was that no the same year we went to THE NBO ? What a larf it was leaving from scotch corner, overtook every other scoob but 1, coz i realised if i overtook them all i didn`t know WTF i was goin Yeah them memories r what its about I`m sure btwn the 2 of us there`s a few belters in the way of stories and all the new faces missed em all m8.
dougster Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 OH yes Pete, the guid auld days!! Remember waking Crush up on yer back seat @ Scotch Corner!!! Priceless!!! And the SBO was the same year and we got over 100 to the NBO's 400!! Not a bad figure for our population! The history lesson begins......................
teknopete Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 LOL yeah I 4got bout avin crush in the back No stamina these younkies. He nearly downloaded wiv u fleggin him.
