dave_morgan Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Just a quick post to make sure everyone knows the details for Saturday. The event is due to start at 12:30, so please try and be there for 12:00. I've not got the best reputation for good time keeping, but I will make every effort to be there before 12 so I can take the final money of you all. Please don't try and pay Raceland when you get there, as that would just get TOO confusing. There are good spectator areas there, so feel free to bring friends and family along to cheer you on. There's also Jan's Diner, which serves hot and cold food and drinks all day, as well as an indoor track to watch some action if it gets too cold outside. It couldn't be an easier place to find to be honest. Just head South down the A1 from Edinburgh and look for the 'KARTING CENTRE' signs on the road. It's at a place called Gladsmuir, and if you get to Haddington YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR !!! It takes around 15 mins from the IKEA junction at Straiton, just to give you a rough idea (although I usually do it early on a Sunday morning, so beware of extra traffic). If anyone wants a map/directions, they can be found here : Map and Directions to Raceland and if you get really lost, call them on 0131 665 6525. If anyone suddenly can't make it at the last minute - please let me know ASAP, so I can try and get someone else into your place. If I can't, you will definitely not get any money back, as I have to pay it whether you're there or not. The only hope is that I can get someone else to take the place and pay you back. I may not be online on Saturday morning, so ideally call me directly, or call the track to let them know that you're part of the Subaru group and you won't be making it. If I get the chance tomorrow, I'll send everyone my mobile number so you can get me if you need to. After the karting, we're planning on having a meet and chat at the Stables bar in Edinburgh. It's only a few minutes off the bypass, so everyone should try and pop in at least for a quick one. It's pretty easy to find too, and directions can be found here : Link to Stable Bar website And quick map....

johns Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Dave, I might be slightly late in arriving due to unusual circumstances - we've got a delivery of ready mixed concrete arriving for wall foundations at 9:30am (builders on site from 7:30am). I've got to pay the concrete man when he arrives and if he's late in arriving, then I might be slightly late (as will my neighbour Alan who is travelling with me). I'm not sure if all 16 are out on track at the same time, but if not, can you put us down such that our first race isn't the first one if you follow what I mean We've been waiting 7 months to get a builder sorted out and the concrete was only ordered this morning after confirmation last night that they'll be ready for it on Saturday. John
dave_morgan Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 No problem John, I'll try and delay the precedings as much as I can !! I'll PM you my mobile number shortly, and you can maybe drop me a text or call when you've got a rough ETA. Thanks for letting me know.

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Better ditch your slicks folks Tranent Weather I love it when a plan comes together
dave_morgan Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 Raceland has it's own weather system, so don't rely on the forecast !!! A bit of rain always livens things up a bit mind you, and gives the heavyweights a good advantage too. They supply wetsuits if we need them - just bring a change of shoes !!
