dave_morgan Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I'm going to get a conservatory built at my new pad and want to make sure a decent job gets done. Any recommendations in and around the Edinburgh area ? It'll probably be between 16 and 20 sq m.
dave_morgan Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 NO - I don't want one made of tubular stainless steel !!!!!
Stiks Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Haa haa - nice one Dave.. but it will be exactly to your specifications custom fitted to your house....
dave_morgan Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 Would it invalidate my warranty though ??
wrxmania Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Yeah yeah Stop taking the piss There is a good, cheap, small firm who are based near me in West Lothian - their name is Install - one manager, a surveyor and a fitting team - good prices, won't rip you off and the game 17 years. Used to be Edinburgh based. Fitted a window and 2 doors for us. The owner drives a chipped 275BHP Cupra Leon R+. Look for them in the Yellow Pages or I will dig out their number etc if you really need it. They advertise in my local paper. Brian
Stiks Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Dave, you're welcome to come round and look at mine ( stop sniggering Morris) - used a small family co in Fife. Not the cheapest but its still standing ! I'll PM their details, they only get free advertising if I get some commission... Im learning Brian Keith
dave_morgan Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Thanks mate, I'll add them to the shortlist.
Highlander68000 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 After the hassle we had with our conservatory, I would only ever recommend that any one use a company who can be vouched for by someone else. We thought the company we had were going to be fine as they were big and had been around for a while - not the case. They actually tried to make it 3 feet smaller than it was supposed to be, plus the job was continually having delays and problems. I was gutted at the time, but we've had to fix some of the problems ourselves as they have gone 'bankrupt' and funnily enough now exist as a different company.
dave_morgan Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 Sorry to hear about your problems mate, but that's exactly why I posted this. Nothing better than a recommendation from a happy customer (or a warning from an un-happy one). What are the company called now, so no-one else gets caught out ??
IanJ Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 << - used a small family co in Fife. Not the cheapest but its still standing ! >> Was that SRJ? If not, then add them to the list. We had them do a load of work on my old house and the quality was superb. Plus they did everything when they said they would (which is a bonus when dealing with trades these days). They even came back and moved a window that they'd fitted when we were doing some 'remodelling'. We have recommended them to a few folks since and all say the same.
Stiks Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 IanJ, Yes its was SRJ - as you say everything done to spec and on time. My neighbour is having a garage conversion done just now... weeks late in starting and the "builders" pitch up at 4 oclock and work for 2 or 3 hours !!! Not happy bunnies. Stiks
