gordon_kerr Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Great day Grant, well organised, thank you very much for all!!! Great roads as well, i apologise for leaving at the end, i went up the high street to try and find a grub screw to secure my rear spoiler and my daughter complained of not feeling to well , on checking her she was totally covered in a rash so i drove straight to Dumfries Royal Infirmary with a spoiler flapping about in the wind, all is ok with her though, she has chicken pox and even had time to get to Halfords and get the bolts to fix the spoiler. Thanks again for a good day out. Gordon
wilky Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Just home as well, nice to meet you sorry we didnt have time to chat, the run was a great route full credit to grant and Imy. Hopefully Cal got some decent footage we can all have a giggle at, swiggy, you need to brush up on your mapreading skills!!! Thanks for a great day out as always it was nice to see everyone. Callum W
Grovit Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Well done Grant and Imy - organisation was top notch. My apologies for having to pull out v.early on in the route (I was the black Catalunya that was pulled over by the side of the road at the village of Penpont). However, the n/side suspension strut had collapsed - called Green flag and got a run home on the back of a flat bed. Not the end of the world I guess, just a shame it was cut short because: a - the turnout was good, b - the weather was improving, c - the pace was excellent, and d - I was having a good tussell with the awesome sounding RB5 in front of me (apologies don't know your name). Still - hope everyone had a good day and am looking forward to seeing some pickys and Swiggi's cam-footage !!
McGoo Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Just back also. Great day, great route. Many thanks to Grant and Imy for arranging. Apart from the good range of Scoobies on show, some bemused villagers, some waving villagers and a comic of a cyclist leading the second group... could be heard as he passed .... "...scooby, another scooby, another sccoby, another scooby, another sccoby, .. volkswagon ?" I'll get my pics up as soon as I've obfuscated the reggie plates with Paint Shop Pro. Davie
RossRB5 Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Sounds like a good time had by all! Piccys please!
karps Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 great job once again Grant and Imy! A great turnout and some great roads made for a exellent day
scott_coull Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Yup some day! Had a great time. Some great driving roads at a spirited pace which I was adamant I was not going to participate in Think everyone enjoyed it apart from some of the locals and of course the cyclists.......vrroooom, vrrooom, vrrooom, vrrooom..... Well organised, top marks guys! Coulster
sKunk Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Awesome day, absolutely awesome. Even the drive home rocked, in a 5-way convoy sorry I had to leave when you guys joined the M74, I had a much more fun road in mind Roll on the next one
r400superlight Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Yeh Cheers Grant/imy, ive left a post over on TRS, Well organised, really enjoyed the day. Not been posting on here to much of late since i got rid of the scoob, but its nice to be back. I was guy in the Only Civic type R. Thanks again folks for a fantastic day oot Paul
gordon_kerr Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 The pace was stunning at times, i think everyone was caught up in it, i was until i felt my spoiler popping then had to back off, we are so lucky to have such good driving roads down here, once again i cant praise Grant and Imy enough, fantastic organisation, the kids loved it. Some of the cars on display today were stunning and i loved the drone and rip of some of those exhausts, i'm hooked for life now, The final thought from me goes out to some of the villagers bemused looks as we hit town and as for that poor bugger in the fiesta as 20 scoobs went roaring by in the space of 30 seconds, his face i will never forget, it was a picture, i canny lip read but it sure looked like he was saying..........Holy $hit , what the feck is going on , pmsl.
Gumball Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 WHAT A DAY THAT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was fantastic Grant and Imy, hats off to the great organisation and presumable recce beforehand? I had all the intentions of taking it easy pc in my new STI, however that all changed when i ended up between the bampots most of the way. Each and every stage of the day was super, with quality roads, dips, crests, hairpins and sweepers all the way. I did enjoy passing the natives in various places who all seemed to be blown away by the appearance of so many scoobies in their hood. Theres a couple of photos attached of today, and i look forward to seeing any video footage!!
p3dro Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 What a fantastic day out Thanks to all who organised it, route maps and rules handed out at the start is a great idea. Awesome roads and I was caught up in a fast group, sorry can't remember who apart from Devlin and the M3 driver(sorry didn't catch your name)and the red Civiv Type R. The pace was electric at times, i have never met so many like minded drivers giving it their all within safe'ish boundaries. I had a blast a great way to burn optimax. Thanks again to Grant and Imy for their effort, whens the next one
Gumball Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Thanks Paul (keevster) As hard as i tried to shift your type R i couldnt, but it was good to meet you and smoke your silk-cuts. (typical East end bampot). Once i get used to the new brief hopefully i will be able to blow you away at the bends. As you say, the more confident you get the more gallas you become! I do fancy the type r day when it comes......
prezzie Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Hi peeps. Just thought id stop by and say thank you so much for a brilliant day. I was the 1 sitting in the back of the black wrx with the camcorder. Loved it so much its made me sign up and thank you all. The roads were fantastic, the cars brilliant and the people friendly. Although not having a scooby of my own you all made me feel more than welcome. Thanks all. p.s Which silver scooby ran over my hat, when if flew off while i was hanging out of the car taking some shots??
gordon_kerr Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 Hi Prezzie, good to see ya join and a warm welcome, hope to see some of that footage soon. Jambo
oobster Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Agree with all the above - if there's a better way of using 44-quids worth of Shell's finest i'd like to know where! Great organisation, great roads (even although i was a bit reluctant with the go pedal - only had the car 3 weeks & still getting used to it). Was surprised at the locals all coming out their houses to see us coming by. Looking forward to seeing the various pics & video's later as & when they are posted. Smartest car of the day - the white new-age STI with the gold PFF7's on it - luvly.
sti-zlv Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!! Huge thanks to Grant and Imy, its not many people that would take the time and effort to organise something like this. It is much appreciated Jillian and I had a great day, great cars, great roads and great banter. Good spirited driving was enjoyed by all, even the drive home. Was in the door by 5.55pm,in Stirling, need I say more Cant wait for the next one, next time bring sausages not marshmallows Matt
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 glad to hear it was a good day. Life will never be the same that i missed it and the chance to "noise" up some wee villagers
SEEVERS Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Absolute and utter class day out.Roads -superb/Driving-excellent(i thought)Cars-awsome Even getting lost with Higgy,Del and Swiggi was fantastic(it got us an extra 10 mile of road ,easy) Drive home, once it got under way,was also a very spirited one.(Kate took a pic of the speedo-don't know why?) Grant and Imy,thanks for a great ,well organised and fast paced day out. Quite literally SUPERB. Del.
gordon_kerr Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 I would personally like to thank Del for spoiling some of my fun today ( i think it was Del anyway) for showing me that prodrive gear shifter that i was supposed to be getting off Jamie today, bling bling all right, now Jamie what is the score lol
r400superlight Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 << Thanks Paul (keevster) As hard as i tried to shift your type R i couldnt, but it was good to meet you and smoke your silk-cuts. I do fancy the type r day when it comes...... >> Yeh Chris you take it easy with that motor mate, its a weapon to be respected, although your pace increased nearing the end of the run, thats when the cracks appeared in the CTRs performance when trying to mix it with an STI PPP. Here's a link mate, Cant seem to make it a clicky, should have stuck in at computer at college, Here is the web address anyway www.type-r-scotland.com Keep an eye out in the mini/official meets section, someone will no doubt post and invite over here anyway for future runs. Later Paul
Madmonk Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Cheers Grant and Imy for a great day Had a nice wee run back upto Ayr and then upto the clyde tunnel didn't know they have put speed cameras on the A77 and a 40 speed restriction. coulty Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 What a wonderful day! My thanks go to Grant and Imy for all the work to make the route a most eventful one (just wish Grant would have hurried up a bit!!) My car performed faultlessly apart from my overfuelling, my apologies go to Cal and Wilky who were behind me breathing it in. Great drive home chasing Playsatan and having Matt up behind me...saw some good speeds too (Waving to Lordharding on the way past!) Top drive guys and to think i nearly didn't come! Stuart
billyboy Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 So you ended up near Dumfries?Billy amd Jean has a caravan near there and we could have went there for a wee break, coffee and a Coke at Powfoot hotel. That is of course if some wee b@@tard hadnt bust my nsr window.Car is locked up at work and i've borrowed a 1.4 mk5 Golf oh the shame of it.I'm stayin in tomorrow.
Don Mega Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Big shout out to Grant and Imy.. Another great run and very well organised. The roads were superb, some very fast driving, was at the back of the pack last time... so it was good to be about 15 cars back from the front and keep up. Got some good video footage! 362 miles in total.. best 50 quid ever spent Cheers again for a great day Dennis - Blue sport.
