MY94 Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 SOME DOZY OLD TW*T WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT AND SMASHED THE FRONT OF MY CAR A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO. SEVERAL SCOOBIES PASSED ME WAITING FOR A FLATBED TO TAKE MY CAR HOME..................i think one was hanging about so he could nick parts if I just left the car there(he passed me three times)...............!! I FEEL SORRY FOR THE GUY THAT HIT ME NOW,AS THE FIRST THING I DID WAS SHOUT "WHAT THE F*%K ARE YOU DOING,YOU JUST WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT "......I THINK HE THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PUNCH HIM(I WANTED TO ). SO NOW I'M THE PROUD OWNER OF A F***ED CAR WHICH CAN'T STEER/HAS NO FRONT END/AND F**K KNOWS WHAT ELSE. CONSIDERING THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN THREE WEEKS THAT SOMEONE HAS HIT ME I'M NOT A HAPPY BUNNY. I know the car can be replaced and no one was hurt, but I love my F*^*ing car and I am so pissed off right now!!!!!!!!! I mean,it was a red light,.....that means stop.........not "aim for the big shinny Subaru". Luckly the guy was honest enough and even admited to the Police that it was his fault|(although they never charged him for going through a red light?) So if Andy from Jvs is on,I might be coming to c u about getting a new car over the next few weeks!!!! Also, where is best for body repairs around Edinburgh?I don't want some dodgy garage that the insurance company want to use if they decide it's not a write off.(I'm going to sell it if thats the case anyways,it'll be a nice shinny motor for someone to drive, but too much bad luck with this one for me) I need to go chill out now.
wilky Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Sorry to hear that mate At least noone was hurt (Except your car) I think JVS has a lovely silver 96 STi looking for a good home......... Callum
robinh20mrv Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 sorry to hear your car has been hit m8, at least you are ok, metal can be replaced..... cheers robin.
robinh20mrv Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 the scoobys still for sale at jvs, silver sti....................
wrxmania Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 A F Nobles Subaru in Penicuik - very good bodyshop. Insist it goes there. Brian
MY94 Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Thanks WRXMania....some good advice I think.(do they work on imports?) Thanks to the rest of u,any advice gladly recieved. Happy motoring and keep an eye out for what the punters are doing out on the roads...................u might be good........but they sure as hell can't drive. Keep it coming guys............... cheers
scott_coull Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Grim news mate, This situation really pi$$es me off! Let me get this straight, some dozey old codger goes through a red light, proceeds to smash your pride and joy, admitts to the police he done it and they are not going to charge him! WTF! If the tables were turned you can bet your car that you would have been done for it! Thats just tipical of police nowadays..... I give up with police.....so inconsistent. Hope you get a new car out of it mate and I would be making a formal complaint about the officer(s) on site due to them not doing their job properly, a report should be submitted to procurator fiscal and let them decide if they want to prosecute or not.
robinh20mrv Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 oooooops!! sorry m8, i got it wrong!!!!!!!!! dohhhhhhhh the silver sti at jvs is still for sale, i was getting mixed up with the ra! cheers robin
MY94 Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Coulster-----I should explain that although you have a point about "if the shoe was on the other foot" I would deffo get charged, but to be honest the Police where really very good, they went out of their way to help and I feel that a compliment to them is in order. They would have charged him I think, but he was a true gent and admited to myself/the police & his insurance that it was his fault & took full resposibility for his actions. His insurance company said it's ok to go to Nobles(just get a quote first). So I don't mind under those circumstances(i thought they used a bit of common sense myself) Also the cars not a write off......it doesn't look so bad in the light of day..............so I'm just going to be without a Scooby for a while whilst waiting for parts/repairs etc......... Still not a happy bunny & possibly going to buy another car(scooby most lightly/although I quite fancy a change to a Pulsar/or even the darkside ...........ok maybe not:-)
wrxmania Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Nobles will do you a very good job. Derek, the bodyshop manager has done, shall we say "a bit of work" for me on my car on occasions and is very thorough. He insists on taking his time with a job and will not rush it, there is lots of hand work done on the car in prep and their sprayer is excellent, with a great colour match always and better than standard paint finish. The car will no doubt be in for about 10 days, if they get the parts easier - your insurance "approved" repairer would shove the car out in 3 or 4 days - that says it all. One other thing - you won't get a courtesy car from Nobles (they do not do them for bodyshop) but I would advise you to contact Helphire - they are used by Nobles, will give you a courtesy car of similar size to yours and gaurantee that even if the worst comes to the worst and the claim falls on its face you will not be charged anything for the courtesy car etc. They also will provide legal protection, advice and personal injuries follow through for you at no cost to you (well, it's £10 for the Angel policy - but that is it). Tell Derek that Brian Morris recommended him - he'll know who I am. He has seen my silver MY03 WRX a "few" times. Good luck in getting it repaired. It will look as good as new after Nobles. Brian
scott_coull Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Yeah maybe mate, My views come from personal experience when i wrote of my car, no other vehicals involved, nobody seriously hurt, I was totally honest with them and my insurance company, all damage to car and wall covered by insurance company (luckily I had protected no claims) I ended up getting points and a fine and charged with careless driving. So although they were polite etc you have to see my point being if I may have been 60 driving a sensible car, I may have not even been reported, but police, young lad fast car.....we'll screw him! Rant over. Glad they were fine with the old bloke....hate to see old folk getting done for driving cautiosly as usual
MY94 Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 WRX Mania....thank you.........I called them and I've to speak to Derek on Monday.........cheers. Coulster.....I can see where you are coming from, and I would feel the same if the tables where turned. To be honest, the only reason I'm cool is because his insurance company are going to fix my car without giving me any hassle. Otherwise I might not feel so. Anyways, thanks to u all.......... Cheers for now:-)
wilky Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Dont was to pi$$ on your chips but if your car is an import chances are they wont touch it, unless the bodyshop isnt part of the subaru franchais, dont know, but you can only ask I suppose
wrxmania Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 It is part of the Subaru franchise but I have seen all sorts of cars in there - they also do spraying for their Rover/MG franchise too and seem to operate with a certain amount of independance. I also remember Derek discussing costs and some of the difficulties in them sourcing parts for imports a while ago. Brian
MY94 Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 I think they'll help(we chatted on the phone). Anyways, parts could be interesting. Mine is a STi and the bonnet is made from aluminium. Are the UK classics fitted with aluminium also,or are they made from something heavier.?
wrxmania Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Newage UK cars certainly are - my MY03 WRX has an ally bonnet. I am sure Nobles will do all they can for you. Try searching for some parts yourself to speed up the process. Brian.
Grovit Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 MY94 - sorry to hear of the news mate - I appreciate know one was hurt and the other driver admitted liabililty etc etc , however I totally understand you being hacked off. Chin up bud - get the Scoob fixed and you'll feel a lot better for it.
dave_morgan Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 Nobles don't care if it's an import or not, so don't worry about that.
MY94 Posted January 10, 2005 Author Posted January 10, 2005 Cheers guys, I'll let u know how I get on ,hopefully a plan will come together on Monday. I guess I'll have to settle for GTA3 or Need for Speed on the PS2 for the next few weeks........
