Help in Aberdeen - locking nuts

Recommended Posts

Posted

Tried to remove my alloys and I have managed to round the locking nut tool. How the hell can I get it off. Been round a couple of garages today and no one is keen on "removing" it for me. Anyone recommend a friendly garage in Aberdeen or another solution?

Cheers

G

PS

It is for an elise...unfortunately Lotus are no longer in Aberdeen

Alright m8.

I've just been down this road only a few weeks ago face-icon-small-mad.gif After trying the obvious tyre fitters etc (who were totallly usless) I took the advice of a few guys off here and battered a socket onto the nut with a big @$$ hammer.... sounds terrible but worked a treat!face-icon-small-happy.gif Not sure what you do about the nut once it's off tho.... i.e. how d'you get it out the socket.

I had to buy a replacement key for the other 3 existing nuts and then decided to buy a new set of 4 locking nuts. 30 quid later I was back to normal! face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

put the socket in a semi open vice so the socket sits on top of the jaws. Get a drift and batter the nut out from the top.

That's exactly what happened in the end. Tried a heap of garages before I tried Laws Tyres. They did it in under 5 mins....£10 later im all sorted.

Unfortunately the Lotus locking nut tool is made from cheese.
