i've got a my98 ukturbo with a scoobysport backbox, hks bov & hks panel filter

i've been quoted by the dealers 1600 to fit a ppp upgrade(some wont do it due to 63k even with fsh) this will give me 250bhp?

been advised (awd) that i should be able to get a reliable 280bhp, any ideas? also which boost controller to go for and would i still need a boost guage?

cheers in advance of your replies (smartarse or otherwise)

Buying the PPP new is a waste of money on a car of that age IMO (i have the same btw). It will give you 250bhp with a de-cat however, mine made 260bhp with these exact mods. The MY98 PPP is basically just an ECU, back box and panel filter. I'd recommend either looking around for a second hand PPP (i have one but it ain't for sale) or try the same basic mods with different kit.

Andy Forrest does the Apexi Power FC ECU for £700 supplied/fitted/mapped. Full de-cat from Hayward & Scott along with this will see you well over 250bhp (with your HKS panel) and come in at well under £1600.

Boost gauge is always a good idea if you're tweaking things and the Apexi AVC-R is the current favoured electronic boost controller.

Have a read of my website (see signature) for tuning the MY98.

I am right in thinking that the PPP also entails swopping out your standard centre section so that you lose the second silencer in addition to getting a new less restrictive back-box ? I wouldn't have though that simply replacing the BB would free up many ponies ( plus 3 - 5bhp max from BB alone ?? )

Your model of Impreza will get the centre section Cal. Think it was MY99 onwards.

Mine certainly didn't have one. Unless it's been robbed previously or i've been passing the MOT's on a resonator. face-icon-small-happy.gif
