peter_macgowan Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Needing new front pads on the 02 WRX, Im just wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best ones to get and some prices. Ive heard EBC Greenstuff are one of the best to get about £95. Camsport are doing EBC red ceramic pads and turbo grooved discs, total cost £238 Comments................
scoobykev Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Ive got red stuff pads on the front, they're crap, (brakes in my transit are better) i thought it was just the brake fluid needing changed but thats just been done and they're no better, was advised towards a mintex pad. i've got DBA discs which seem fine Hope this helps
johnnyr6 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I used the redstuff pads on track and they were fine, no fade at any time with crappy two pots. Made a mmess of my wheels though and after a couple of the sessions the brakes were smoking badly but no fade.
r555ngl Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 mintex or ferrodo mate,although mintex can be a bit noisy(squeel)
dougster Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I did have Mintex 1144s before and they SQUEALED right through a 1000 mile week trip in the highlands (2 pots) I also wasted a brand new set on the 4 pots in one 4 hour session at KH!!!!! Ferrodo is the way to go!!!
Bladerider Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I can't fault my Ferodo DS2500 pads on my AP's for their stopping power. Only one problem with them....loads of brake dust. Easily cleaned off though.
peter_macgowan Posted November 26, 2004 Author Posted November 26, 2004 Looks like Ferodo's are a popular choice, thanks. Off to get a price now
Andy-P Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 I have DS2500's, a bit dusty and squeaky in reverse, but still recommended.
dougster Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 One has never reversed around Knockhill therefore one could not possibly comment!!!
wilky Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Hello mate, I would go for mintex evolution, they are new out and the next generation in braking technology. IMHO they are fantastic. If you are unsure about all the advice call John at EARS in Macclesfield. EARS stands for Escort and Rally Service. They have forgotten more about brakes than we will ever know. He advised me and Im glad I called him. Callum
spooks Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 Got DS2500 on mine and I know that Pagid are prolly slightly better overall, wichever you choose Id say your gonna be cleaning your wheels more often ......these bad boys are dusty. Look to pay around £115-125 inc delivery +VAT etc Spooks
robinh20mrv Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 ferodo ds2500 without a doubt!! can be a bit dusty though!! cheers robin.
