Jus collected my 03 WRX yesterday. Awesome car - I know its not as fast as the various STi, special editions and modified ones that most of you own, but its still an impressive car. I took the unusual step (for me) of reading the manual last night and just wanted to check a couple of things;-

The manual says that when the heater control is turned to either Windscreen or Windscreen and Footwell that the Air Con is automatically switched on to help clear the windscreen. Is this correct? The Air Con light does not come on so I wondered if it actual does this or not. Seems a stange feature, but then Subaru did once build a car that linked the 4wd to the windscreen wipers!

The other thing concerned fuel. I am not going to ask about fuel consumption, I found many other threads on the subject and actuals seem to vary widely - I'll just need to wait and see. I did want to ask about fuel grade. The petrol flap says 98 RON only, but the manual says you can run it on 95 but performance may suffer. What is the collective wisdom of the forum (if there is such a thing) Does everyone use Optimax?

Thanks in advance and hopefully I'll get to the next meet.

The "Fuel Thing" is mainly talked about as many of us have Jap imports. In Japan they use 100 and 102 RON as unleaded and super unleaded. In the UK its 95 and 97(or 98.8 for Optimax). So we tend to use Optimax and octane booster, just to be safe.

However,I'm sure that everyone else and my self included would tell u to use Optimax all the time.

After all, what's the point in buying a Scooby and running it on crap fuel?Poor performance and probably more problems for the car in the long run if u run on 95 RON .

Anyway, all that's left to say is Hello and ENJOY!!
