Hi got a full decat on the 01 Rex and its developed a nasty rattle noise when on boost, no performance differance and everything appears to be normal but still very concerned. Anyone local to West Lotian care to have a wee looks at it and give there opinion as to what it could be?

Hi bud could be a problem with an wrongly/poorly fitted heat sheild .dont ask what one cause theres loads but some of mine were in poor condition and bits removed and theres a slight rattle/buzz under acceleration in say second gear, have a look at them and give them a good rattle to make sure .face-icon-small-smile.gif

Hi Spooks,

This may sound extremely stupid, but are all the bolts tightened or even ther - LOL face-icon-small-wink.gif

Just kidding - is the turbo itself tight - I would be tempted to tighten every bolt, screw etc etc connected to anything metal, including the wings etc?!?

May sound a bit dumb but it's worth a try.

Maybe you should think about a car maintenance course at your local college face-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

It could be Rosie's teeth m8!!

Hopefully just a part of the pipe touching somewhere it shouldn't. Heat shield sounds a good place to start looking.

Just a thought mate but a while ago I remember there being a problem with some of the aftermarket down pipes vibrating against the steering column. Can't offhand remember the make but it was the type that has the separate waste gate pipe. This was, as mentioned, a while ago and the problem may have been addressed by the manufacturer.
