Hello. I'm Richard and I have an Impreza Series Mcrae. I need help. 4 years ago the O ring beneath the oil reservoir was changed and the power steering stopped working. I changed the pump and all was well. Recently the same happened again and the power steering has failed again. It works a little, but nobody can work out what is wrong. Has anybody else had this problem?

Was the replacement pump new or 2nd hand??  did it include the tank and was the o-ring renewed again??

 

The location of that O-ring would suggest the tank is  loosing fluid or when the pump is running it draws in air. A similar problem occurs on later models where the tank is remote and a hose fitting is attached to the top of the pump.
