The Meat
Hi all. Need tyres for the hawk and need a kick up the @rse to actually go and get them! My problem is that I don't want to be spending money on great tyres that I won't put to good use, by that I mean the car is a standard WRX and will never be on a track and isn't driven particularly hard. Have got a price of £480 for 4 Mich potenza's but should I be looking for cheaper options ie lower quality tyres ?? Advice please before I get pulled over for having the slicks on!!! Cheers. johnmacdonald
For the past 5 years, I have stuck to P Zero Neros on my WRX PPP and soon to buy third full set from www.allnewtyres.co.uk. Great prices and very fast delivery. I just can't fault the P Zeros. Recently bought four new Falken 452s from them for my Accord 2.4 iVtec at fantastic price and had fitted locally for £40.00... spenno
Go for Falken 452's I swear by these tyres for quality and price and I know alot of other Scooby drivers do to. If you go to camskill they do the Falkens and other tyres at great prices Link to comment
lister100
Don't forget kumho le sport, best kumho's you can get. Really good on my blob Wrx and stick really well. Only about 90 quid each. Link to comment
The Meat
Thanks for all the options. I was on a website that asked you to type in your reg and it would choose the tyres for you. Problem is it suggested 225.45.17 where as I have 215.45.17 on the car just now. What is correct?? The 225's are cheaper than the 215's!! Link to comment

The Meat
Nice. Thanks. They are cheaper so suits me fine. Just wanted to make sure they would fit the standard WRX alloys without causing any issues :-) Link to comment
highlandflyer
Thanks for all the options. I was on a website that asked you to type in your reg and it would choose the tyres for you. Problem is it suggested 225.45.17 where as I have 215.45.17 on the car just now. What is correct?? The 225's are cheaper than the 215's!! stick with standard size which is 215x45x17 91 for a wrx. If you go for 225's you get a slightly higher profile ie tyre has larger circumference. Link to comment
g1983
Does 225 not refer.to tyre width and 45 is the profile height ;-) Link to comment
Phil MC
225/45r17 are a direct fit instead of the standard 215/45r17 . I've used them on my old Blob wrx without any issues, and the sidewall profile is still the same . Link to comment
arch
If you go to the 225 45 tyre you will increse the rolling circumfrence by 1.5% in real terms your speedo reading will be 1-2mph out so no real issues there given the accuracy of your speedo from the factory. The 225 wil also be fine on the WRX 7" rim. As mentioned the Khumo le sport range are excellent tyres just no one knows much about Khumo appart from those of us who use the ecsta range for hills and sprints but the KU39 are excellent road tyres for the price. Jim Dickson in Cumbernauld is a Khumo dealer and is very competative if your in this area. http://www.kumho.com.au/kumho/pcruhp.kh http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=87012083.110.25506&Cookie=froogle&typ=R-178618&ranzahl=4&Breite=225&Herst=Kumho&Quer=45&Felge=17&Speed=W&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=15&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=So Link to comment
g1983
I do like Kuhmo tyres but are they high performance enough for the awd subaru? i have had them on various cars rwd and fwd and they where very good. I have been advised on bridgestone or michelins for our roads Link to comment
arch
High performance enough to propel most of the 500bhp + road cars around sprint tracks. Link to comment
fai17
Ran the khumo v700 on my 627bhp Scooby. The super soft sticks like hell. Link to comment
g1983
I will remember that next time. they are currently on my other car with conti sports. as i say no issues previously Link to comment
