Kiltarlity (new stage never been used) 5.Glen Urquart (If thats how you spell it lol) We'll be 4x4 it in J's orange freelander not the scoobs.

scooby222 Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 hey Gee, hows tricks? il be using the works truck, blue new shape l200 so il keep an eye out for you stages look good, daviot was fun last time in the snow, Rogie's always a favourite - what way are they running it this year? ord hill would be tempting but probably try daviot and rogie with a quick pop into service as its all of 3 minutes from the house
Midnight21 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I'd love to make it to this .....but work commitments will probably put paid to that :-(

highlandflyer Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 We'll be at Daviot as it's only a mile away. First car starts 09-19 and course is slightly shorter and reverse ie west to east as apposed to previous years.
scooby222 Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 il keep an eye out for you Myles, hoping to make daviot for a bit, theres a big wide sweeper about half way through if its the same as last time, good spot for sideways ac tion

davey l wrx Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Enjoy it guys get some pics up..... I'll be on the hunt to see what the Aussies are doing to their Scoobies. Might get some ideas to bring back. Apparently there's loads of them round where i am so we'll see. All i've seen so far is 1 civic and loads of pickups (sorry utes), ford falcons and Holdens. Might have to hire a big V8 muscle car just to see what they're like. Unless i can find a scoob to hire of course!
scouk Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Damn! it was cold out at the snowman today! Soon as I got out of the car on SS1 It started blizzarding! (is that a word?) and got really damn cold!! Managed a couple of stages and a quick walkround the service station at lunch.. Currently sorting through photos, so hopefully have some uploaded later today if not tomorrow.. David Bogie was clearly on a mission from the get go! He was really chucking his Evo around at speed!! Slightly off topic, but had the winter tyres back on for this (after reading views on another thread) and they are staying on now! Didn't notice any lack of grippyness that I had a few weeks ago.. Maybe the road into Elgin was just really greasy that weekend. No issues with ABS kicking in or control of the car today! Infact even had one of the stage Mk2 Escorts dropping back behind me on one of the road sections near tore roundabout which has a nice covering of snow!
scouk Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Snow on the 'snowmanrally' surely not! Got back to the car at the end of SS1 to find this: Oh look a row of scoobies!! Funny how marshals seemed to direct them to a different parking area than the rest of the cars. David Bogie, very much on form from the start Oh look! A hatch! Not many of those rallying.. Or these for that matter! THis is the one Bitz Motorsport Built P.s. THat's snow! not a borked camera Nice to still see a bugeye on stage But quite a few Blobs on the go: Snow very much taking over for a short while... Mini watersplash on Stage 6 And finally, there's always on guy in a media vest that comes along and stands right infront of you where your takign photos. Get tae' ... Might start trying to name and shame... More photos from SS1 Mheal Mor and SS6 Glen Urquhart
jamesm Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Just back from a long day trip from Ayrshire, impressed I actually managed to get up at 05.00! Went to Daviot, Rogie and Glenurquhart. Not a bad day all in, a bit of walking, particularly at Rogie. Not sure why they can't use the wide forest road up to the stage rather than the boggy field 25 mins away. Had to smile to myself as everyone started getting stuck in the field and I simply pulled away in the Impreza without even any wheel spin. The one thing which always dissappoints me at the Snowman is the behaviour of the spectators. They are always by far the worst behaved rabble of any rally I go to, by a very long way. Watching some young lads in Glenurquhart staggering about the track whilst completely plastered was frightning! Run back down the A9 was fun with a complete white out in parts. Spotted your car at Daviot Alan, but didn't see anyone else I recognised.
euan_r Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Glad i brought my hat. Not any snow worth mentioning but that which landed ensured the newly graded gravel got wet and tore up. Rear wheel drive nova was quality whilst it lasted. Think it was nearly half the entry list lost to attrition and saw quite a few offs. Thanks to dave again for 0 mile walks into stage. Gas stove in wind is no match for bbq though but meal at night more than made up for it.
scooby222 Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 had another good day out at the snowman - plenty of action this year courtesy of the constantly changing surfaces and weather! thermals and pickup made everything bearable and seeing the bugeye wrc going through stage 1 before its headgasket blew was awesome
maddogsx Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 ScoUK on the first stage were you the chap that moved the tyre and cone off the road that the MK2 pulled along from the hairpin? I was stood just to your right if you were. Picture below lol at first I thought it was actually the scort that had threw a tyre off.
scouk Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Ha haaa! nope that wasn't me.. But did wonder what happened to the cone after it dissappeared when the Mk2 went by Saw a few scoobs parked up at stages but didn't recognise any of them sadly.. At least my car is fairly obvious even if you haven't seen it before Edited February 20, 2012 by ScoUK
