jj1966
Any ideas, My 05 wrx is the wifes daily driver, couple of days ago she mentions it has developed a squeeling kind of noise and she had to drop a gear as it seemed as it was holding back a bit. I went for a run tonight, sounds like the noise is coming from the front, wont go away when you press the brake and she is right in 4th / 5th it's holding back. At slow speed knock it out of gear and free wheel and it might be me but felt as though it isn't rolling as loose as it should be, got home after a 5/10 minute run and the drivers caliper is warm to touch but the passenger side was much hotter in fact quite a bit hotter. I am no mechanic but think that we a have siezed brake caliper. Any ideas and if it is a caliper where can I get a replacement. Cheers John Link to comment
badbaz
WRX calipers frequently seize up - kits of seals and or pistons are readily available and that would sort your issue. Link to comment

Thanks Baz, so no need to replace the caliper any suggestions where to get the kits. Cheers John Link to comment
badbaz
Not replace the caliper - the calipers need refurbed - Camskill was a good supplier of kits I believe - just google WRX four pot caliper refurb or similar Link to comment

spect
Good luck, as badbaz says it is quite a common fault on various cars and simple to fix as well as relatively cheap. Link to comment

pec0
Alright mate, had a similar problem last month with my 05 wrx. The caliper pistons are chrome plated, after a while they can corrode and they start to stick. To do the job properly you need new pistons and seals which is fine but will cost approximately £100 - this is for stainless steel pistons and all the seals etc. However, for £200 you can get your calipers professional refurbed and ready to fit - this is the option I chose and the quality is excellent. Godspeed have a good name but I found them difficult to get hold of (no reply to email or phone) - probably just unlucky. I decided to use Scooby Worx - £350 up front then refund of £150 when you send them your old calipers. Service and quality was excellent and importantly they refunded my £150 with no problems. Would definitely recommend them. Whatever you decide best of luck. Cheers Ross. Link to comment
