mystery machine
I hear a lot of chat about this "STI 7", that "STI 8" and even the odd "STI 9"... Whazzit all mean? How does this numbering scheme relate to Classics, Bugeyes, Blobeyes, Hawkeyes, Hatches and the like? And what happened to STIs 1-6? Don't seem to hear much about them... Yours as ever, Confused from Central. Link to comment
colin_ross
1 - 6 are classics, 7 is a bugeye and 8 and 9 are blobeyes. Basically a different number for each updated version. Link to comment

colin_ross
Not an expert but dccd, nitide crank and 114.5 pcd spring to mind Link to comment
G.Mac
yup nitrided crank with better oil flow, wider track (you can tell by the little spats on the rear wheel arches), dccd (in UK anyway), 114.3 pcd with wider alloys and uprated hubs, removal of some big rubber bush thing from steering column to supposidly give better steering responce and updated interior amongst others. Engine good for High 400's as long as your sparkplugs dont fall to bits Graeme Link to comment
