Bugeye Front Splitter

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd post up a couple of pics as KennyUK300 was asking if I'd fitted the front splitter yet.

It only took 10mins to fit once the fitting kit arrived, and here it is.........

IMHO a very good £99 spent to change the look of the front end  .

looks like HT autos.

really good value and if you tap the kerb it sticks out so protects the cars main bodywork!

:o I whacked a deer last year and I'm convinced it saved me from much more damage!!

I'm also convinced they do actually have proper aerodynamic properties and help higher speed cornering. They certainly do somethign as I ripped one off at a measly 65mph. Now attached with the help of some dcent bolts and silicone sealant around the front join

They look good too! (Colour coded mine)

Hope this doesn't happen to mine  .

It's attached with 7 nuts, bolts & washers along with 6 self tappers, so hope that's enough???

I might just run a bead of sealant along it tomorrow to be on the safe side tho :D .

It';s probably ok.. First attempt was done using self tappers and silyl plastic plugs. Never got any fixing with it and thought it would stay on with that.. err nope.. Discovered it does produce downforce and it proceedes to rip itself off and I drove over it where it broke into 3 bits LOL! Now secured with about 10 stainles stel bolts with 1 1/2 inch washers and rubber pads. Only way it's coming off is if the bumper comes with it!

Reason I used the silicone was pressing down gently on the front middle I noticed it flexed enough to give a gap between the splitter and bumper. Figured that this could occur at speed so decided to seal the gap with silicone. Still easy to remove if necessary..

Ideally would be nice to have a quick release option for multi-story carparks

Is yours on lowering springs though, or will my standard STi springs make this a potential scrape hazzard in multi-storeys?

Got Prodrive Springs on mine (Bug WRX) and I know multi-stories were close before. havent actually tried it with the splitter on but generally try to avoid them these days. Minor problem...

Best thing to do would be to try it at a quiet time just incase you need to reverse out again.. :o

Any clues if this will fit a bug with prodrive bumpers

Not sure... Do you have a photo of the front of your car? Prodrive have their own Splitter which wraps round the bottom of the bumper and doesn't sit as low as this one..

Hi mate,

I'm sure someone else on the group buy was asking the same thing, but can't find the post or reply about it for now.

I've emailled Mark at HT Autos with your question, and I'll let you know for deffo when I get his reply.

Cheers,

Phil

Apparently they've just recently manufactured the mould for this, and one of the SN group buyers (KingHorn) has fitted his, but awaiting him uploading some pics of it?

i have the prodrive one, unfortunatly im offshore and the car is in bits so its not fitted yet will be done soon tho

pmsl, so it's you that the SN guys were talking about B) .

General concensus was that they were holding off with their orders until you'd posted up a few pics of it fitted  .

Scoobyclarke might be interested to know if you'd offered it up, to see if it looks like a good fit before you went offshore?
