Where Now?

Hi Guys, this is not intended to stir things up, i was just wondering what happens now with Kent Scoob's, Obviously Granby has stepped down and its been suggested pele takes back over, Is this is what is happening? At present KS does not have an RO, and if any new member was going to join then there is no body to direct them to.

There is no body to organise meets, events etc  So was just curious as to what is happening, we need to capitalise on the atmosphere that was at the meet last night, i've been to a couple of meets that have been like that unfortunately one was last year and one last night, it just proves that as a club we can all get on and have sensible (sometimes :D ) and entertaining conversations.

So what now for KS?

NOT havin a pop at you at all Matt or anyone but I have had enough of KS's and the politics and am no longer apart of the FORUM, I will go to meets and events and shows as usual as have made some great friends. Friends I do not want to loose even life after scooby ownership but communication will be done over the phone and Email to discuss whats going on, meet times, places etc.....

SO LONG YA'LL

See you at the next meet

Dont blame you mate, this was posted last night and no1 has bothered to reply, perhaps what you are doing is the way to go. May have to arrange our own meets thou as nobody will be posting meets up on here.

i think a few few will leave and faces will change.... but things will pick up again. people need to put the FORUM aside as it accounts for only a very small percentage of what the whole club and KS is about.

. . . Granby has stepped down and its been suggested pele takes back over, Is this is what is happening?

Where have all the pro-Pele crowd gone now? It was clear at that meeting at the Wharf a year or two ago, that although changes in the structure were desperately needed for Kent Scoobies to go forward, there were people there who still argued that Pele should be retained as RO despite all her personal issues at that time. We've heard all the arguments that 'without Pele the club would never have got off the ground . . . etc' but sadly things have to move on. No one ever asked her to leave, it was simply suggested that she just take bit more of a back seat, let others do the running around for a while until she'd got her home life sorted.

Ian has done a fantastic job since taking over as RO and personally I think its very sad that he's walked away from that role "because being here is no longer fun".

Like many before and now Yogi joins that list, I'm going to step away from the forum as well.

All the best for the future guys, wherever it might take you all

I have also decided not to replace the scoob......this place just isn't fun anymore.....all the sh*t stirring and backstabbing is all a bit school playground for me. So i am also stepping away from what was once a good club...............obviously that means i won't be carrying on with the merchandising anymore.

I have made some good friends on here and will keep in touch with them but not through here. It's very sad that it has come to this.

Good luck to whoever's left for the future.

Jay.

I think its sad that Granby has stepped down as the Kent RO for the SIDC.

But,

KS isn't actually a subset of the SIDC (which is a highly recognised national club in its own right and hence has regional organisers through-out the country) and we were an existing club before a deal was struck to host our message board on the SIDC site (I think we were the second, after scottish scoobies), - rather than set up and run our own.

Its all just got a bit confusing - especially to the newer Subaru owners of Kent.

This is a sad day. When I got my first Scooby 8 years ago, the sites I first visited were Kent Scoobies and Scoobynet. Kent Scoobies was always a friendly place to come.

To be honest, I don't know the politics behind a lot of whats been said so I don't want to make comments. But it's a real shame to see this community at odds with each other.

Some of you guys have already come over and joined SES and everyone will be made extremely welcome over there if you wanted to visit us. Even if it's just temporary, while all of this is sorted. Don't just give up on the Scooby community guys and gals, it's not a bad community to be part of.

Cheers y'all

As a few of you are aware we are selling our lovely RA and therefore, we are leaving ks. Granby has summed it u in a nut shell buy saying” it is not a fun place to be anymore” and we agree. In the beginning we really enjoyed going to meets and shows, and when Harry came along, we wanted him to be a part of it all as it was such a family orientated club, but the past few months it has steadily gone downhill, every club will have its up’s and downs and different opinions, and I suppose it always will, but when you get some people who just like to stir things up because they do not have anything else better to do then it starts to get silly. IMHO the club leader (who ever you will VOTE in) needs to be assertive and strong if he/she wants to organise an event/meet, then give specific instruction as to what is happening and if you don’t want to participate then DON’T and let the other members get on with it without moaning and whinning.

As Big Jay has said it is just getting like a playground and a bit backstabby. To quote deani age “observation”, myself and big jay are no longer members of sidc, because we decided to leave when our membership expired, this is not a justification it’s just FACT! If you do decide to take the rains again Pele good luck to you, as you probably will never get the full support you are looking for “to bring the club forward”, as there is a lot of high opinionated members who will always think they will be able to do a better job ! :D

There are a few members that we will be keeping in touch with(you know who you are), expect a pm if we haven’t got your numbers.

I will still be checking my PM’s RE the sale of the car, I do hope that by all these members leaving the remaining people sit back and evaluate, and maybe you might all learn to play nice again.

If any spelling/ grammar mistakes have been made................... I’m really not that bothered !!! B)

Goodbye

Hi Col, it's not the only reason there are a few personal ones. :P

I would like to say that the meet on Friday was one of the most enjoyable I have been to and actually re-newed my faith in the club. You get out of meets what you put in and if an effort was made to talk to people everyone would realise the vast majority of attendees were actually quite nice people. The organisation of future events is a bit of a worry, I would like to think that maybe Granby would come back if the atmosphere on here and at meets was once again enjoyable. If, however, a new RO is found in the meantime then it's important they have the backing that perhaps Ian didn't fully get. A lot of things get said on this forum but at the meets it is my experience that these arguments are not carried on, and remain largely enjoyable events. Of course people will group together, you will always get poeple who find they "click" better with certain people and to have the whole group in one big bunch trying to have a conversation is just not practical, or likely to happen.

I have made some friends here (and one next door neighbour) who I would like to think I would still see regardless of which car anyone owned.

Have you noticed that not one of you that has posted in this thread is a member of the SIDC

Its coments like that that gets too people, does that mean that paid members should only have there opinions counted? and the rest of us to sit in the corner and chat among ourselves? Why im off too.

Last thing i wanted was for everyone to abandon the forums, we too were members of SIDC but decided for personal reasons not to renew a couple of years back. As original thread i was just wondering how the club is going forward, Sue more then me will talk to anyone in the club, we dont have favourites..... I even spent friday night chatting to some SES members, it was good to see them there.

This club has the potential to be the club it was but surely to do this then people need to keep personal differences out the club.

Obviously as with any online community someone needs to take the reins and then have people around to help, Kent is a large area and surely can be sub divided with someone responsible for organising events and shows in that area.

I have no idea where the future of KS is and neither do others.

All I can say, is watch this space!

There has always been a KS Organiser/Figurehead and an SIDC Regional Representative.

At times it has been the same person, at other times - two different people, carrying out different roles.

Granby's resignation (unless we convince him to come back) has left a vacancy for SIDC Regional Representative for the Kent Area, http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?act=ann...;f=61&id=21

Anyone can apply and be seconded, but you obviously have to be a member of the SIDC to fill an SIDC role. This is part of the point that I think Dean 'was' trying to get across.

If anyone wants to put themselves forward for the RO role??? - Put your name up.

You will have some bulletin board responsibilities and obviously co-ordinate the KS attendance to National events.

Hol the only part i am wondering about is the Kent side, not SIDC, at present there is no figurehead for Kent Scoobs, the way i understood it Pele was the Kent boss lady and Granby was the SIDC organiser, when Pele stepped down (or pushed however you may see it) i thought Granby took over both roles, now Granby has stepped down there is nobody sorting things anymore or keeping an eye on the forum, fortunately it is very quiet on here at present. I hope this makes sense and is more understandable about where i am coming from.

All I can say is that a few of us ‘Oldies’ are aware that people are unhappy and we are discussing ways in which to:

i) Address some of the issues people are raising

ii) Take away some of the distractions/barriers that seem to be in place – This may result in some surprises!

Can I suggest that people have a look at this thread as a start?

http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=134731

Lets look to see what we can all do - to turn things around, rather than sit on the sidelines watching the game go downhill.

i agree with what your saying :D

BUT people do not want to see comments like or observations (Have you noticed that not one of you that has posted in this thread is a member of the SIDC)

i would like to say something the same? HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT NOT ONE MEMBER OF SIDC HAS POSTED ANYTHING POSITIVE ON THIS THREAD, & i would also like to say a BIG THANKS to granby for being the ONLY sidc member to put is name down & turn up at the meet last friday, & a big thanks to all the 10 other non- members who put there names down & made the effort to turn up & make it a good meet

goodluck with all the politics & observations ;)

hope to see some of you having fun & driving about :)
