I'm sure there is only 1, i remember hearing about this on QI

I seem to remember QI saying that the statement that there's only one is false... there's 71! ;)

Oops i put some words up. hope no one saw that! I know of three.

Does anyone know the longest one word palindrome?

Or a SENTENCE (for Dean) where it is grammatically correct to use the word "and" five times in a row.

Edit: I know of three everday words, but there are loads, as I can't think of anything that rhymes with mesothelioma or polyoxymethylene.

Can only think of rotavator, madam and level off the top of my head.

Incubator (sort of), don't know and bevel.

I was thinking of pavement, orange and month, but one probably has a rhyme.

Fushion and hushion are both words I believe, but little known outside of Scotland. But knowing Hugh I guess he is thinking of parishion. Well done Col!

Sorry Col you forgot the er Parishioner

But parishion is a genuine word Hugh! Are trying to get out of buying Col a pint, hell, I know it looks like he has normally had enough but you owe him one. ;)

Col probable means,

Parision, the rounded mass into which the molten glass is first gathered and rolled when taken from the furnace.

Looking in my Oxford Dictionary.

Give me the meaning and I'll check it out.

The complete Oxford English Dictionary also lists the word parishion meaning the same as `parishioner' (a member or inhabitant of a parish). However, this word died out in the 16th century without ever settling into a consistent spelling.

ive still got the old dictionary ;)
