UK300_loon Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 (edited) Hi all, I'm looking to get back into mountain biking, so was wondering if anyone could recomend a good bike carrier. I'm running an RB5 at the moment with an eye for possibly changing in the near future (only maybe), so experience/recomendations of car friendly bike carriers to suit all models of Impreza would be much appreciated. Including the classic 4-dr as I still may keep hold of my RB5! Worried about damaging the car more than anything else. Cheers, Alan. Edited June 7, 2009 by UK300_loon

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I got pissed off pulling out the baby seat and folding down the back seats of my Audi Last week I purchased Thule Aero Bars & the 591 Proride carrier VERY very sturdy and soooooo easy to put the bike on ( by yourself too) Hope that helps ?

No risk of paint being rubbed by any straps or pads & so simple to use.
UK300_loon Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 thanks for the replies so far The towbar mounted system sounds the best on terms of being car friendly, my old man used to have this set up on his 405 back in the day, but unless it was able to be fully hidden I just couldn't do it. Thule roof bars look like the way I would go. How quickly can they be fitted? Would it be chore to fit them then remove every time you go a run on the bike? Also, has anyone noticed them chafing the paint/window seals at all? Cheers again, Al.
